if i haven’t already suffered enough during these last 12 weeks, i now have come down with a cold (in this pandemic and weather, i know). i also suffer really bad with hayfever, so the last couple days i have had a severe headache/bunged up nose/nose bleeds/puffy eyes. i had to go to the hospital last week and they said that the cold/virus has really knocked it out of me (ive been so drained, more than what the morning sickness has taken out of me). they basically told me to get on with it and speak to a doctor in a week or so if i still have issues. i just wanted to know if im okay to take hayfever tablets or should try to stay clear, im suffering so badly and tbh i cannot be bothered for another doctor to tell me i feel like this ‘because im pregnant’. sorry for the long post/rant, you guys have been my best help since i found out i was pregnant!

Speak to your doctor as I suffer with hayfever and couldn't get over the counter medication and doctor prescribed me hayfever tablets feel so much better
Hay-fever tablets are safe in pregnancy. I've been suffering too and after doing some research it says they're safe, although there is limited research. I'm 27 weeks and started taking my tablets yesterday. Feel much better!!
I am sorry you're not well and being told to get on with it is just awful when you know there is medication out they're that can I help. I had this experience with my hayfever and one midwife (thankfully not my usual one), saying it was just the way it is when you're pregnant and to get on with it... the trainee health visitor who was with her during the appointment looked a bit shocked and said she suffered with hayfever and knew how awful she felt, and to speak to my GP. I believe there's some anti histamine meds you can take however as I was in my third trimester during hayfever season I was advised they may cause babies heart rate to raise so I opted against them. My GP was good though and said I could take a nose spray and eye drops to help and as they're so localised they're unlikely to affect baby and more likely to relieve some of the irritation from hayfever like itchy eyes and nose. On the cold virus, again I believe the GP would be best but could they not have advised you to at least do things like steam inhalation with vicks/olbas and that you are allowed paracetamol? I think your first doctor sounds like they've given not the best in the way of advice? Sorry you are feeling so unwell and hope you feel better soon x
