Hi guys 😊 I am 40weeks+4 I have had my show yesterday morning around 6:45am since then I have had sharp like period pains some so so sore and around the bottom of my back and top of my legs then they worn off around evening then I was up most of the night with them very regular. This morning they was the same and timing them was going from 7 mins to maybe 5 then to 4 mins apart and lasting at a range between 36 seconds to a minute. However with them not being regular time wise I haven't gone hospital. Do you think this is contractions and should go in or not ? Or any advise please ?thank you xx

Hi Becky

It definitely sounds like your baby is on the way. You are possibly in the early stages of labour as thats how it starts. That pain/cramping/tightening your feeling does get more intense and almost unbearable. Until then... Maybe you should just call your midwife unit and explain your symptoms. I think as your contractions are not regular they will ask you to stay home and come in tomorrow to be checked out.

All the best wishing you a safe delivery x

Sounds like you are in early labour stage. Mine started exactly the same - i had irregular contractions from Friday night to Sunday night - they were very irregular 3-6 min apart lasting up to a minute but they were getting gradually stronger and so strong they wouldn’t let me sleep. By Saturday night my Tens machine was not helping with pain anymore but my Birth Centre wouldn’t even advise going to the hospital as contractions were still so irregular. By Sunday afternoon i was in agony and couldn’t take any more pain so we went to the birth centre to be assessed but i was only 1cm dilated. No one was believing me how strong the contractions were. They sent us home. That night i couldn’t cope anymore as not slept since Friday. We went back to the hospital at 4am on Monday but this time to Triage. Lady in charge decided to do half an hour monitoring and she was extremely patronising laughing at me that these are definitely Braxton Hicks and not the real thing and laughing that if I can’t take Braxton Hicks how would i cope with the real thing. It was awful. She said we would have to go home as the contractions are still irregular. I was planning to refuse leaving without any pain relief. By the end of the half an hour monitoring the baby’s heart rate dropped a little and she started panicking and decided to examine me - i was 3cm at that point and she rushed us to the Labour Ward. Everything after that happened very quickly. I opted for epidural having not slept for so long and zero energy. They broke my waters at 9am. Estimated delivery time for 9pm. By midday I was already 7cm and my baby boy was born at 4.25pm- all along with irregular contractions. So my advice is listen to your body. You will know best whether this is it. And if you think this is it be persistent to be seen and assessed and offered options.

Good luck xx ❤️
