Hi I am 31 weeks pregnant and am suffering from bad hip pain during the night. I have a cushion between my legs and that helped for a few days but I am in so much pain now. Can anyone recommend any other suggestions please. Thank you xxx

Hip pain
I had hip pain, but I swore by my pregnancy pillow and heat. Always had hot water bottle on hips before bed. Have you tried a pregnancy support belt, I always wore it during the day, which helped a lot, got mine was eBay, was only cheap x
I have one but can only wear it for an hour or so. I think I will just have to put up with it xxx
I was told I had PGP early on in my pregnancy. Hip pain is definitely one of the symptoms. I managed with the pregnancy belt that was given at physio, avoided stairs and purchased a pregnancy pillow. It won’t cure anything but it will definitely help until we give birth xx
I'm 30weeks pregnant and getting the same issue, I'm constantly turning from side to side in the night as each hip goes numb and is painful. I've got pillows too and tried the support belt, I might try a hot water bottle, but think I'm just resigned to it for the next 10weeks. My physio said to stretch the hips in the morning and evening but they are still painful. I went away at the weekend and did find a harder mattress eased the pain a little and was easier to turn x
I’m 32 weeks pregnant and started experiencing the same thing last week. I have to turn a million times at night and whilst my pregnancy pillow helps the pain eventually wears through the pillow. No suggests for relief yet unfortunately...x
Hi Emmaxxx
I had that from 20 weeks and it was only getting worse. I recommend physio (check with your midwife they should be able to refer you reasonably quickly) and also a soft mattress or put some extra soft mattress covers under your bedsheet. Hard surface is not your friend right now. Hot water bottle helps. Also sitting on my fitness ball and moving your hips gently. X
Hi, I am definitely not pregnant , I am 71 years old lol. BUT I have just had a replacement hip operation after a fall. The pain in my hip was horrendous and I found sleeping on my back with the affected side leg on a pillow so the pillow was longways from ankle to above the knee and the other leg straight on the bed, hope this helps x
Definitely worth asking for a physio referral.. I’m a physio myself and have nhs colleagues who specialise in obstetrics, including women experiencing musculoskeletal problems associated with their pregnancy. Being in pain/ disturbed sleep is so miserable so it’s gotta be worth a try! xx
Hi, I’ve had similar pain and I’m using one of these heat mats to sleep on and it’s improved hugely. I bought the single one so it only goes on my side of the bed and I didn’t get pregnancy pillows but thick memory foam pillows as they seem to be more supportive and also wheat bags during the day. And I’ve been swimming, well not swimming properly but it seems to ease by being in the pool. Hope it improves.
Thank you so much x
