Doubt there is anything can be done for this but wondered if anyone has any tips i havent tried for hip pain at night? I’m 36 weeks and left side sleeping and wakening atleast once an hour I’m agony. I have to peel myself out of bed and go for a walk about. Tiredness has well and truly set in ha. Currently using 6 pillows (have tried them in different positions but no change).
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks 😊

I'm not sure if I can be much help here, but I have a condition which has caused chronic hip joint pain since I was a teenager and I had to have a hip operation at 21. The pain from this is always right in the groin area, if the pain is anywhere else it's probably got nothing to do with the actual hip joint, unless the pain is deferred. Anyway, the only way I can sleep when my pain is really bad is with a long pillow, one end under my face with me hugging the pillow, the other end between my thighs. My legs need to be together (with the pillow between them) and bent from the hip at a 45 degree angle. The long pillow is best for me because being able to hold onto it seems to stop me turning so much in the night. Sorry if this doesn't work for you. Good Luck!
Im 38 weeks and suffer from the same i have to sleep up right its the only thing that relives the pain, luckily for me it doesn't happen every night but when it does its horrible i feel your pain. Hope you find something that helps x
Maybe a silly question but have you tried regular pain relief? You’ll obviously be limited in what you can take but paracetamol is fine. Otherwise it sounds like you’re trying the right things. Hopefully not long to go now! x
Oh I never heard about this. Thanks for pointing it out.
This will be something we’ll probably never know for sure as it will be nearly impossible to do a long term randomised controlled trial that gets ethics approval.
Worth having the info to help guide decision-making though. x
Get a new mattress. We got one when I was 30 weeks with my 3rd child (nearly 4 years ago) and it still pleases me every night when I get into bed. Or old bed was just too soft. Slightly firmer for more support was the best move for me. Best £300 I've ever spent!
