Thanks emma, i was thinking that, it kinda started pinky colour and was thinking that was maybe cause the wee spots of blood from the sweep, hoping to go myself and not need induced next week xx
Keep walking, moving around, gently bouncing on a birthing ball, walking up and down stairs to help get baby moving. Both my babies arrived at 41 weeks according to the hospital dates. Xx
Baby is just getting ready. They don’t have a calendar inside so don’t know when they are expected.
Before I went into labour both times I walked into town and back took about an hour to do a unpregnant 45 minute walk each way. Walk as far as you can, it really does help.
When sitting on the birthing ball, keep your legs wide to help your pelvis open up, kneel on the floor legs wide and lean your arms and chest on the ball, roll the ball back and forward and round in circles. Imagine your pelvis opening. Find some meditations to use while birthing. You’ve got this, you’ll be amazing.
That looks like mucus plug to me! My baby came at 41 + 5 totally by herself. I think it was the potential threat of induction 😂🙏 so hang on in there, it will happen!!
That looks like your plug to me! Mine looked very similar. Goodluck!!
I kept very active after I lost mine which i think helped my little girl come, my water broke the night after I lost my plug and she was born 12 hours later. I was lucky she was 2 weeks early hope your baby makes an appearance soon xx
Hi Louise, good advice from the ladies above and you should know that the AVERAGE length of pregnancy is 41 weeks so half of all babies come after... remember induction is always your choice and there are lots of things that they can do to keep an eye on you and your placenta if you go longer than 42 weeks. Daily ultrasounds should be offered if they're worried but the risks go up only ever so slightly after 42 weeks and monitoring can indicate of there's any reason to induce but otherwise you could choose to let this little nipper come naturally.
Chances of interventions go through the roof after being induced so natural birth is out of the window and outcomes for mums, babies and successful breastfeeding are loads better after a natural birth.
Do some research, contact AIMS for more info but if you want to wait for your baby to come in their own time (guess what, they usually do!) then that is your prerogative.
The fact that you've had a sweep (which is basically sending a message to your body that your cervix is in trouble and it should hurry up and start labour or your baby won't be safe) and it hasn't been successful seems to suggest that your baby has a little bit more cooking to do before they're ready to come out. I know it's uncomfortable and it's very tempting to let doctors and midwives 'help' but actually we've been doing this childbirth thing (very successfully!) for hundreds of thousands of years! In fact, every woman from whom you are descended has successfully birthed at least one child, or you wouldn't be here. So hold that thought in mind and remember it's YOUR choice...
Best of luck with it and remember, whatever sort of birth you have, everything is worth it once you hold your little one in your arms x
Thank you for all that information, im hopeful baby arrives by its self, i think because i found the sweep so painful i thought great this will work and it didnt put a wee damper on me, but as you say baby obv just needs cooked a little longer, i have been doing some suggestions but not too much every day as baby will be here when its fully ready, ❤️X
Oh, and the first stage of induction usually utilises pig semen so you could try human semen instead and actually, there's some evidence to suggest that it works even better if ingested... if you know what I mean 😬🤷♀️😂
