Thrush in pregnancy

Hi!

Has anyone else experienced recurrent thrush in early pregnancy? I’m only 8 weeks and already had it twice! It’s making me really uncomfortable and causing slight spotting and discharge. It’s a nightmare trying to get treatment- no one will give you anything without doctor’s permission :(

I know I can’t take the oral tablets or use the applicator for pessaries. It’s starting to stress me out :(

I’m currently 15 weeks and I’m coming to the end of my first lot of it. It’s awful! All the doctor gave me was some cream but it’s not been particularly good. They did tell me to go back if it doesn’t go though, so maybe book in and see your GP?

Absolutely I did with my first, yeast and then bacterial vaginosis. Ugh!!! I treated it with yogurt douches and baths in tea tree oil. It doesn't help immediately... but in a few weeks you'll notice the infections are gone.

Yes, it’s horrible. I had it for about 10 weeks straight, the only thing I found was putting a cold flannel inside your knickers. Worked a treat x

Thank you for your replies! Went to the doctors yesterday and he gave me a pessary! Just worried incase it’s bacterial vaginosis rather than thrush! Arghh! Xx

I have it at the moment - 27 weeks pregnant. I’m finding pure coconut butter/oil on the sore bits is helping. And drinking diluted apple cider vinegar (with the mother in it). Have the docs taken a urine sample and tested for a UTI? They’re such similar symptoms I had both and didn’t realise.

Ah it’s such a pain! No they haven’t even offered- I honestly feel like they couldn’t care less at the doctors :( so I’m going to mention it to the midwife. Thank you x

Oh no that’s not good! They should be extra careful with you during pregnancy. You can ask for a urine sample tube and hand a sample in at reception, ask it to be tested for a UTI. They take those very seriously in pregnancy as it can cause early labour and kidney infection so it’s important to at least rule it out. Your midwife also a good shout. Good luck and hope you get some help. x
