Hi,
My 8 month old has got to have a blood test tomorrow for a possible egg allergy.
I have been given some EMLA numbing cream to apply an hour before but I’m not sure where to apply it?
Will the blood be taken from the back of his hand?
Thanks

My little girl had some taken last month for the same test, for her they took it from just below the elbow crease on the inside of the arm just like they would an adult in case that helps 😊 That being said they could pick either arm as they did look at both before deciding so I’d do both to be sure. We’re still waiting for our referral to the allergy team, it was the paediatrician that got the ball rolling with further tests for egg due to her being sick 20mins after having it and other known food allergies 😢 x
Thank you for replying.
I will apply the cream to both arms to be sure.
Hope your little girl is seen soon!
We see the dietician again on the 10th Oct so I’ll be asking where the paed letter went when we go as we are a month along and normally get a letter of what we discussed that goes to the GP too but we haven’t had one 🤷♀️ Hope the test goes ok, we had a few tears our end but it wasn’t too bad x
