43 pregnant with epilepsy

Hello

This is my first time on here.

I got caught after 2.5 years single I am six weeks pregnant and I did think about termination I just can't do it.

I'm not in a relationship but am shocked as I thought my symptoms were menopause .

I was quite surprised my GP suggested termination straight away as I have epilepsy which is out of control at the minute.

I'm scared to death as all I hear is doom and gloom.

I have decided to go on with the pregnancy and take everyday as it surfaces .

Has anyone before had a negative reaction as I have off the GP

I do have 4 older children and that was the GPS mai. Reason for suggestions. Of termination not so much epilepsy

I think your GP is extremely insensitive and should have never been this forward!! He should have waited to at least gauge your inclination. Very careless influencing you/ someone in such a way!

I believe you will be placed under consultant care for your pregnancy- so they will look after you.

In terms of medication - don’t worry about it, take what you need to control your illness and what your doctor recommends you. Many many women are in exactly that position and have delivered healthy babies. I’m not sure if they might suggest an elective c section as being the safer delivery method - but this isn’t the end of the world either. And as you already have kids, you have plenty of experience to draw on.

I had to (and still am) take lots of drugs for pain control as I have a bad disc prolapse. Which is not what I had planned for my first pregnancy but I try not to stress too much. I’m not the first in this situation and I won’t be the last...
