Hey ladies, I'm 30 weeks tomorrow, a pretty easy, problem free pregnancy so far. On Monday though I noticed baby was not having his regular wriggle sessions after dinner and in the car etc. Spoke to triage on Tuesday and she advised me to do the lay down on my side after food and drink for an hour thing and monitor movements, and whilst I felt him move it wasn't in the same places or with the same ferociousness he kicked before. Anyway I have had a stinking cold this week and have spent a lot of time awake in the middle of the night where I've been thinking about this and noticed even overnight he hasn't had as much movement, so today I went into hospital and they did a full check and said everything looked ok (though even whilst monitoring his movement in hospital it seemed much less, he really was very wriggly previously). He is defs not moving as he was... so this is my question; is this normal for 30 weeks? is he maybe running out of room, or would his movements slow down if he was going through a growth spurt? I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this or knew why his movements might be less frequent and less physically strong (also in a different place) but medically I'm told he's in good health? All advice gratefully received before I go insane!!!! Thank you lovelies xxx
Much less movement: Hey ladies, I'm 3... - Pregnancy and Par...
Much less movement
Hi there my baby started moving less when I was 36 weeks i had an app at the hospital anyway as i was itchy in pregnancy and they felt for a heartbeat with the machine but sent me straight to get a scan and everything was ok luckily. I would say go and get them to send you for a scan just in case at least then you know everythings ok. I was told by the midwives always come to the hospital with reduced movements and im glad i did put my mind at rest. I thought it may of been because i stopped working so wasnt moving around as much and was told no babies should move around just as much as usual until you give birth. I also found that baby moved so her movements were different to before I think its when they move around to get ready for coming out so to speak. Good luck i hope everything ok hope this helps xx
Stick to your instincts. Baby shouldn’t move less as you get closer to due date. It should be the same movements all the way to the end even through labour xx
It's good that you went in and I'm glad it seems that everything is ok. I wonder of perhaps baby has changed position and so you are feeling a different body part moving or pushing out? Also could be that baby is just getting bigger. I'm no medical expert though so I'm just trying to think what it could be.
.
Did they say if the baby was in a different position? I found when she moved round a bit the movement was less.
Trust your instincts and keep going in if you think they are reduced
You’ve come so far in the pregnancy it’s alwasy best to get it checked out. Just in case! Don’t ever feel you shouldn’t because you were previously told everything was fine!
Movements do become less erratic when the baby is bigger because of them having less room, but like I said if you are worried always go and get it checked out. X
I was at the midwife yesterday and the leaflet said the movement shouldn’t get less even when in labour. I would get them to re check. Cxxx
Can they see the position of the cord? Make sure it’s not anywhere it shouldn’t be x
Perfectly normal mom! My son didn’t move much towards the end either. He was doing ALOT of sleeping and when he came out he was still an excellent sleeper. He always slept through the night since he was a newborn.
Even if it’s a little wiggle it’s fine. Just make sure you atleast feel him moving about in there.
He also could of just locked down into the position ready to be birthed.
Either way, everything will be fine. You’re doing a great job carrying him!
I’m a big believer in trusting your instincts; trust yours. Both now and after birth you’ll be the biggest advocate for the health care your child receives and will be the person that knows him best. If something doesn’t feel right to you then keep seeking what you need until you feel reassured x
You guys are beyond amazing thank you!!! He was indeed in a different position than he had been (more 'hammock' than 'head down' apparently) but they have me booked in for a growth scan anyway. The midwife on the phone today said yes being in a different position would generate a different feeling of movement, but the force/power of kicks/movement was irrelevant. Turns out today as my cold is much better, my sleep was much improved and I'm generally feeling more relaxed, he has been notably more busy and active today. Your comments are such a comfort and I cannot thank you enough. I'm not crying - you are!!! xxxx
