Hi so I currently 21 weeks and had my 20 week scan last week and they discovered an abnormality with babys heart and i have been through various professionals and hospitals and they have finally concluded that babys stomach is on the wrong side and the ventricles that pump the blood around the heart are the wrong way round this is a simple procedure usually however our baby's main atery the one which travels through the leg to the heart is entring the heart in the wrong place due to this the consultants are suggesting i have an amnioscentoces which has risks this is because all these issues together are suggesting that there may be a chromosonial problem but its probably not downs syndrome so I honestly don't know what to do because everything has a risk ?

You are right that everything has a risk although they are low risks.from a practical point of view I think what should be the deciding factor is will the baby having a chromosomal abnormality change the outcome for you? Aka if there is a severe abnormality would you consider an abortion?

I would also.discuss if a harmony test (might have to be private as most nhs don't offer this) would be an option? I think it's a matter of discussing the cons and pros with your consultant and discussing with your partner.

It is truly a difficult time so make sure you get all the support you can get, Don't be afraid to ask for help

Then I would speak to.your consultant and ask if the procedure would have any benefits, will knowing before baby is born change things? Hope it goes as smoothly as possible
