Canesten for nipples thrush while breastfeeding
Hi hun.
I would think that after feeding your baby you should wash up, put the cream on and let your nipples be uncovered for a while. Before feed, wash up again.
I'm sorry, not much help but I have never had thrush on my nipples
Hi, the correct testament for nipple thrush is daktarin cream (miconazole) - it doesn’t need wiping off like canesten does.
What have you been given for baby? You should have miconazole gel for them.
The bfn are really good for help with medicines and bf as many drs etc have no clue
I had the same issue, I had to try and time it after a feed and then make sure it was well washed off before feeding. I was prescribed daktarin for the baby, I didn't know this could be used for nipples?? X
You should both be treated simultaneously, to avoid passing it back and forth to each other. Usually the baby has nyastin oral drops, and I've used canesten and daktarin and both are applied after a feed and are well absorbed before Any feed. Make sure your both treated, as I ended up getting complacent and stopped once it wasn't sore anymore only for it to travel up Into my ducts which was dreadful. There's loads of stuff you can buy over the counter, you don't need to wait for a GP. For you and the baby. It falls under the ring of minor ailments so it's all free too. X
