Hi thinking forward. Any recommendations on slings? I have a mothercare baby carrier from my first born, but might try a sling this time to. Whats the difference and what slings are best? ty x

I’m looking at slings too for wearing round the house so my arms are free to do household chores etc. There are plenty on Amazon to choose from with reviews.
It looks like a sling is essentially a long piece of fabric that you wrap you and baby in. A baby carrier is all pre formed and you just pop the baby in and wear like a front rucksack.
Look for a sling library near you so you can hire before you buy. There's quite a few around. They even show you how to fit and properly wear them.
I bought a mamaruga zen which is very supportive and will last till she's a toddler.
Yes I agree that a sling library is a good idea. I went to our local one for advice and they helped me choose what was best for us and how to use it.
My favourite until he was maybe 16lbs or so was a moby wrap. They look a real fiddle to tie but once you’ve done it a few times it really is easy and it’s so comfy. Any stretchy wrap is probably as good - check eBay as they’re pricey new.
Now he’s bigger (5 months but huge for age!) we’re using a connecta, which looks really basic but is brilliant - super comfy and light and packable. My sister loved her ergo (similar, soft structured carrier) but I have narrow shoulders and it kept slipping off.
