Hi all. Im currently 7weeks 2day pregnant (from lmp) and after havi g a delayed misscarriage and D&C at 11wks in march this year....i am stressing out! O am so trying to be positive as my hubby says, you get what you put out there, buts it'sa nerve racking time. I am booked in to the EPU a eeek today for a scan (fingers and toes crossed all is okay). Is there any advice? Im trying to stay chilled. Watching my eating and no alcohol since finding out at 5wks. I suppose, i just needed to get this out therr and off my chest. X

We have been ttc for 4yrs (we are fortunate we have a gorgeous daughter already-5y. Lastvyear been using clearblue to nail it!)

I know what you mean about being anxious I had a miscarriage after IVF this time last year and have been petrified most of this pregnancy. Hope your scan went ok x

Thank you. Scans next thursday at the EPU.....just need to try and relax and think positive all okay! X hope you're well and getting regular reassurance checks. I think I'll need those as i'm a highly stressed out person/job :( x

in reply toKitkat77

Unfortunately I didn’t get any extra scans I was classed as a normal pregnancy but think it just depends on circumstances and area. Hope your scan goes well xx

Aww thats pants. I think you'e right, it's down to area and NHS pockets. I had to push the EPU to see me even although i was told previously when i became pregnant again, they would look after me early. So I pushed them. We think we had 2 MC's in short space of time. Apparently they seem to only see you if you have had multiple misscarriages! I didn't expect to be so worried next time I fell pregnant. Delighted and worried 😄

in reply toKitkat77

Luckily my EPU were quite good and we were scanned every week up until 12 but from then on it was all classed as normal which is fine but I have just been so anxious all the way through and obviously being IVF but that didn’t seem to bother them at all.

I still worry a lot especially about movement wish I could just relax but better get used to it coz we’ll end up worrying until their 18 if not longer! Xx

You can always pay for extra scans privately. A bit of a pain but if it gives you some reassurance it’s worth considering

in reply tosanchia46

Yes I did that but only seemed to reassure me for about a week then back to square one. Don’t think us IVFers or anyone whose suffered a miscarriage can fully relax

It's perfectly normal to feel anxious. I had a miscarriage last year around 9 weeks. I now have a healthy baby girl. Hope things go well for you xx

I think you did the best thing here. Have a rant here when you feel anxious about it and hopefully you will feel a bit better. I had a miscarriage and was then so anxious when I got pregnant again! My son is now two and a half. I thought when I got pregnant again I would be calm but I was just as anxious! My daughter is now four months. My point it, it's normal to feel like that! It'seems good you have an early scan booked. That should put your mind at ease!!

Thank you KellyTrip. Wow that's fantastic news, 2 healthy pregnancies and 2 beautiful children. I did just needed to put out there, ehat i was feeling since my hubby dosnt want anyone to know until 13wks. Strange, because, I've already daid if i misscarry, they know anyway..... so you guy'sare my lifeline right now. Roll on the 4th January 2018 when i can hopefully hear my baby's heart beat and be semi reassured. X

I know how you feel. I had a miscarriage in March. I have been petrified through this pregnancy. I wasn’t allowed a scan on the nhs until 12 weeks as my previous pregnancy and miscarriage was considered normal. The wait was excruciating! It was fab seeing the heartbeat and baby moving for the first time though. I found out at that scan that I have an abnormal shaped uterus (slightly didelphic) which no one had mentioned at my scans during my miscarriage (it could have been a contributing factor). I have now seen a consultant at 18 weeks where we heard the heartbeat for the first time. It was only because of the 1st scan, hearing the heartbeat and getting reassurance about my ongoing care that I’ve been able to relax a little. I’m still worried but I am getting excited now too. We had our 20 week scan last week and it was just the most amazing thing. You will probably not stop worrying like me and freak out at every little cramp but it will start to get a little easier and the excitement and anticipation will start to creep in. I know I’ve still got a long way to go but I am much more positive now.

I made sure I told our parents, sisters and a couple of close friends earlier on this time round to make sure I had my support network already in place if anything did happen. It was very hard telling some people about the first pregnancy after we’d lost the baby. It was much easier to tell those who already knew I was pregnant. I can understand your husband is worried and doesn’t want to say anything until 13 weeks but if you need the support then you need to say something to him so he understands you need to do things in a different way to him. I went to dark places with my grief after our miscarriage and my friends and family helped to pull me through it. Good luck with the scan xx

I know the feeling hun. We lost our first Angel in December 2016 and our second in April 2017. I had a lot of complications with our first as our baby got stuck in my cervix and the whole thing lasted about a month instead of a week.

I'm currently 26+1 with our rainbow boy and I can honestly say I only started to relax a bit when I felt him regularly around 22 weeks. People think I'm mad when I say I still worry but that's completely normal.

Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy xx

Am sorry to hear of everyone's losses along the "journey" (awful, overused TV word).

KitKat77 I empathise & have been there. Delayed miscarriage at 7 weeks (thought was 9 weeks) of first preg Jan 2014 - lasted 2.5 weeks & we had discovered preg on 23rd Dec 2013, so of course told our families at Xmas - very sad time.

Preg again July 2014, so anxious til NHS scan at 9 weeks & then could relax a bit (told our families early as my hubby graduated uni July 2014 after 18 yrs trying to get a degree, so in-laws sussed it soon as I didn't have a Pimms there). Our little boy will be 3 in April, so we have been blessed with amazing luck & just the cheekiest, blondest, most happy-go-lucky toddler you can imagine - never sits still either! (There were some dark times in between -going to a baby show with mum & sister, who mc too in Aug 2013 & then was preg March 2014, in May 2014 for example was a huge mistake, but I made peace again eventually).

Fingers X for you that 2018 is your year!!

Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of advice but I completely understand how you're feeling. I'm currently 7w 2d pregnant, I've had 2 previous MC's one missed in 2012 where I found out at the 12 week scan and one in 2014 at around 5 weeks, I also have a son who will be 3 this month. I booked a private scan which is tomorrow evening and I've been so anxious and stressed - hubby also has the same view as yours and he just keeps telling me to think positively but I really struggle. Posting on here and talking to others who have been in a similar situation definitely helps. Fingers crossed that everything goes fine on Thursday, I'll be thinking of you.

Clarkey85. I hope your scan went well. Thank you for sharing your experience. I was going to book a private scan for sunday past, but i didn't as it said from 8wks and it wouldn't have been at the time. Maybe i am reading way to much onto it lol. Tomorrow, cannot come quick enough as I'm not sleeping and so tired and I go back to work tomorrow 😴😢. I work in a very stressful job. I will need to see if the EPU have any advice for me if all okay.

So sorry to hear that hun, sending you a massive hug! are they doing a follow up scan next week when you go back? Did they say it could be too early to tell either way? x

Hi Clarkey85. Scan was inconclusive. Ive to go back next Thursday to see if there is any change. The was a flicker on the screen but they are mot sure if that's a heart beat or blood flow/supply! Also said they could see 2 sacks! Twins!! Hubby was stocked at that..

Having to wait another week is awful sweetie, I'm so sorry you didn't get a definite answer. I'm surprised they couldn't tell either way but I know scans at this stage can be difficult. Hopefully you'll go back next week and get some better news, I'll keep everything crossed for you xx

Are you able to go without appointment? Most of these devices normally have appointments rather than walk in. You can always give them a call to see if they have a cancellation today.

Unfortunately you are right in saying there isn't much that can be done in such situations but cross fingers it will turn out ok
