I was on iron tablets for six months after pregnancy due to haemorrhaging during and after labour.

Here’s a list of iron rich foods m.webmd.boots.com/a-to-z-gu... plus

Vitamin c improves the absorption of iron so take your tablets with orange juice.

Hope this helps and you feel better soon x

Make sure you don't have tea at a similar time of iron tablets as tea reduces the absorption.

If it's very low ask you midwife/consultant if you need an iron transfusion?

No way! I wish I had known that at the time. I always had my morning tablet with juice and a cup of tea! Thanks for the info! Every day’s a school day! ☺️X

You can buy something called Spatone it tastes awful but you mix it with orange juice

I have survived with two tablets of Pregnacare per day. One wasn't enough. I was too tired and craved for more. Plus homemade instant juice of beetroot, carrot and apples or pears mixed together seemed to make me feel amazing.

Don't put them in the fridge unless you want your juice cold.

You def. Need to up your iron though. My ex gp said that a healthy diet is sufficient and I was struggling so bad with my second pregnancy especially with obstetric cholestasis and a liw fat restricted diet!!!

Listen to your body.

You need to check what the multivitamin contains... most pregnancy multi vits don't contain iron

Thank you. Pregnacare does contain iron. It is the vit.A that is a potential teratogen and therefore presrnt as a precursor of vit. A

Yes definitely vitamin a is bad to have! Was the pregnacare iron dose high enough tho? Sometime if you're anemic worth getting separate iron tablets depending on dose so at least you don't double all the other vits&minerals
