Worried about paint fumes & Toddler....

I’m a worried parent looking for some advice / experience on letting your infant sleep in a newly painted room? We have had all our hall /landing and doors/woodwork painted this week and I have let my toddler sleep in her room (only her door was painted) every night without thinking of the dangers.....until now! Although the only part of her room painted was the door - with high voc satinwood paint - I’m now concerned we may have damaged her by letting this happen. I have taken her out of the house everyday this week whilst the painting has been done but have let her sleep in the room without thinking.....does anyone have any factual advice about this. And before anyone asks we didn’t leave the window open overnight as it’s way too cold.

Thanks

I don’t have any factual advice, but as it’s just the door I don’t see why it would be a danger, the paint has more of an odor than actual harmful fumes these days, there’s nothing on web to say it’s dabgerous unless it’s old paint containing lead etc... as she’s been out daily when the painting has taken place she should be fine. Calling 111 nights help put your mind at ease, they are there to give advice x

I’m a chemical engineer (does this make it factual advice?)

Can you smell fumes in her room?

If the paint is dry it should not be giving off fumes (voc) anymore. Windows open during the day as much as possible. All paint specifies ventilation when using them. Takes about a week for gloss to fully dry but the fumes should stop quite quickly.

Won’t have done any harm. If she had consumed it or breathed it in for weeks/months it might be a problem.
