I'm 5 weeks pregnant and i know it's soon but i'm so excited and freaked out at the same time... i feel like there are 100 things to do and i don't even know what or where to start. Is it normal to be so lost?

Yep! But you get less lost when things start really happening. Give your GP surgery a call to find out how to register with your local midwife. I didn't have to see my GP and just spoke to my midwife over the phone until I first saw her at around 16 weeks. She referred me to the hospital I want to give birth in and then they sent me a date for the booking in appointment. THEN it all got real :)

Absolutely normal ... Felt so lost with my first kept on writing lists of things to buy etc ... The good thing is you have another 8 months before the baby gets here which is a long time (ESP when you're at the end waiting for baby to get here) so take your time, have a read of the stuff they give you when you have your booking. Places like mother care do parents evening, and I think john Lewis does a nice magazine that explains all the different bits you can buy.

As for the pregnancy you can get an app like what to expect which tells you what's happening week by week.

Congrats... Relax there's plenty of time!

My advice is try not to make any quick impulse buys. Take your time to look about and check out second hand items too available on eBay & Gumtree etc. Babies are not babies for long and there are loads of amazing items out there.

Probably best to start with a list of items you will need but sign up to Bounty, Emmas Diary and C&G baby club as these are great for helping you out with these questions. These sites/apps are very helpful with each stage of your pregnancy and also great for offers etc.

I have done most of my baby shopping online, for the bigger items, although I have bought other smaller items in the baby events that the supermarkets do. I haven't set foot in Mothercare as I find them very expensive. Definitely go in and look at the items but check online for better deals/cheaper options.

Another good site to check out is topcashback.com as for most online shops, they will give you cash back. It may not seem like a lot at the time but if you do lots of online shopping, it will quickly add up. I do a lot more online shopping now as I just can't face physically going to the shops (24 weeks!) as I get tired quickly, need lots to drink and inevitably need to find the nearest loo! - the joys of pregnancy!

Just do a bit of research before making any big purchases and good luck with your pregnancy!
