I am nearly 6 weeks pregnant and every Friday I have a horse riding lesson! Should I give it up? Or would it be ok to carry on for a bit longer??
Should I give up: I am nearly 6 weeks... - Pregnancy and Par...
Should I give up
for me I would give up horse back riding cuz of bouncing you'll likely have a mc if you keep doing it. it's still your 1st trimester and still dangerous to go on that kind of stuff. as soon as I found out I'm pregnant I stop doing activities that makes me harm my baby stop running, volleyball, horse back riding I'm an active person. but I exercise 3 times a week for 10mins.
All Dr's say that exercise is fine, and recommended apart from extreme or contact sport... 10 minutes 3 times a week is not even enough you should be walking at least 10,000 steps a day until your final trimester. So she's not at risk of MC we can do whatever makes us feel comfortable - but the risk of MC from being "likely" from exercising is simply not correct and could scare people.
Hi, i rode my horse until i was 12 weekspregnant. according to the research i did on yhe net it is safe to do so (there is a risk factor always of course. it's life.) but your baby is quiye low at the moment, well protected by your pelvis. around 12 weeks your uterus comes above your pelvis and nothing protects it from outside just your tummy. the reason it's recommended to stop riding is the risk of fallng or being kicked, not the bouncing really. you don't bounce as much if you're a competent rider. Maybe avoid sitting trot ☺
If you know the horse u ride, and is reasonably safe and sane horse, I'd carry on.
But it's your risk, as no horse is safe 100%. and it's ok to jog as well when you pregnant.
Now my DSis 2 month old and I'm back in the saddle again, which is sich a great feeling!
I would definitely not go especially at this early stage .
I was told by my DR in the US they tend to be extra cautious that really riding is fine until you have a bump as your baby is protected inside your pelvis if you fall. It's not the motion of riding that is dangerous it's just the risk of falling and hurting the baby that way. It depends how you feel... but you are ok for another few next if want to x
The issue is you could fall. If you fall baby could be hurt, if you get kicked by the horse that's a major issue always even more if pregnant. Of course it's up to you, but i think it's not worth the risk
Thank you all for your help I have made the decision to give it up for now until baby has arrived
We all ride horses I have had 4 healthy babies and rode until I was seven months my friend rode until she was 8 months and has five healthy children.
If you're just having lessons youre unlikely to be jumping or doing anything to strenuous we all continue until it becomes uncomfortable or impossible to mount. Always listen to your body. Just try not to fall off.
Good luck
