Hello Everyone

I was wondering if anyone can advise me on what I can do about my 5 week old babies rashes. They seem to be getting worse than better around his face and neck. :(

I presume the rash has been there for a few days. With any rash make sure you do the glass test. If it fades then you can take your time. Is baby using the dummy constantly? Saliva can make their skin rashy. Also are you using any perfumed soaps and lotions. They can aggravate things. If not settling see your gp he might have but eczema.

It may be a heat rash if there is no other symptoms accompanying it. Trust your instincts and seek medical help if it's worsening or not improving. New baby skin is very sensitive, make sure everything you are using is hypo allergenic or skin friendly from washing powder. Lotion, oil ,conditioner e.t.c It's one of the main complaints that Gps receive on a daily basis. If baby is feeding well, having lots of wet nappies, normal temperature, they are alert and orientated, no other concerns chances are it's the new environment, heat rash or exposure. If you are not happy get s health visitor or Gp to check.

Has he been ill at all my two always get rashes when they get a virus. Always do a glass test to make sure. Sometimes because babies skins are so sensitive washing powder or lotions which are fine for us end up covering them in rashes. My son couldnt use Johnsons as he always got a rash as a baby. Hope I helped but any doubt go to your gp.. you know your baby and if he seems out of character or off his milk get him in as an emergency gp appointment with him being so young.

Hey thank you for your response I don't know about him getting ill as sometimes his temperature seems normal then it doesn't. & what is the glass test ? also I've stopped using Johnson products on him as I believe they are either making its worse or might just be the cause. I will be taking him to the GP am worried.

Just keep an eye on him you'll feel if he's too hot. You get a clear glass and press it on the rash roll it over and you should see it dissappear underneath through the glass. If it doesn't it could indicate meningitis. If you go on YouTube it'll show you. Not sure where you're from but we have NHS DIRECT here and we've rang them before as my son didn't pass the glass test once and they told the hospital children's ward we were coming and they had to do blood tests to make sure it wasn't meningitis. Luckily it was eczema. Yes gp probably best thing.. at least then if it's nothing harmful you won't have to worry. You'll have to post afterwards and let me know how it goes! Hope it goes well though!!

I took him to the children's A&E as the GPs appointment was too long (next week Tuesday) something I don't have time to wait for. The baby doctor saw him your quite right they are suspecting that the rash on his face could be eczema and the one on his neck possibily heat rash or also eczema they recommended what cream I should use for him and bath him with. Which am a lot more happier now that his calmed down/seems a lot happier as before he looked uncomfortable.

Thank you and everyone else for your response it really helped 😘
