Post baby pains

Hi all,

had my little boy 8 days ago now and all is going well, except im getting sort of period pains but they are really extreme today and i hurt when I move, bend etc Im breast feeding but thought it should be easing by now not getting worse? Any thoughts girls?

Ok, are you still bleeding? I bled for 10 days after having my daughter and towards the end of that time (around 8 days too tbh) I got really nasty period pain, I actually thought I was going in to labour again and rang the midwife to come out. She told me it was my body getting rid of the last bits and I would stop bleeding soon.

Hope that reassures you. But I would just ring your midwife or health visitor to check as I'm not a doctor. 😊 xx

Yep still bleeding a bit but its better today - GP wasnt concerned! But im with Health visitor tomorrow so will discuss with her. Im on Labetalol for high blood pressure too which has its own side effects - which im sure are upsetting baby's stomach as hes screaming in windy pain around poo time !

It could be everything contracting back down to how it was pre-pregnancy. I had the worst after pains with my youngest and lasted for a good 2 weeks! Has your midwife released you yet? If not give her a bell and explain your pains and concerns

Thanks both, I saw my GP today who said anything is normal as long as it doesnt start to smell (lovely!!) he said it can vary and so not to worry - and randomly it seems to have mellowed quite a bit today
