Growth and LV scan

Hi ladies,

Just wondering if any of you had to have a growth scan later on in pregnancy? Consultant has referred me for one as they are concerned about static growth. This comes after a bout of reduced movement which has thankfully gone back to normal now. I will be 35+5 when I have the scan on Friday x

Hello have you been given an estimate on the babies weight at all?

No, not really had any info to be honest. The last midwife I saw on Friday just said she wasn't happy with some of the measurements and wanted to refer me back to a consultant. As far as I was aware everything was fine before that. I'm just hoping it's a better safe than sorry scenario

They say baby puts on more weight etc in the last few weeks but every baby is different and yours may just come later on since you still have 5 + weeks to go. She has a job to do and I guess if its anything out of guidelines then you will be referred, particularly with reduced movements. If she didnt I would be worried! Cant say not to worry cause that's not going to happen but I would say it seems there is a fair chance everything is fine if movements are back. When you say a bout of reduced movements how long did it go on for and how significant? Like was it dramatic ? My placenta was in the way I had to have a scan at 32 and then 36 weeks I didnt realise but they do a growth scan whilst you are there as well so I think its ticking boxes xxx

It was over a 24 hour period, only felt 3/4 movements when normally it's like having a tap dancer in there! They monitored us for a couple of hours in hospital and all the prodding and probing seemed to wake her up. I get the impression she may also be in an awkward position as they have had trouble working out which way up she is too, so that may be another reason why they want to check. Trying not to worry about it, like you said, she's the professional and I trust that she knows best. I'd rather they err on the side of caution than potentially miss something.

Ok so scan went fine. She is a 'normal' size, just below the 50th centile, est weight of about 5lb at the moment. Pleased I'm not having a monster baby anyway! Haha. Also she's head down which is also good. Having to see the consultant on monday though as they want to be sure that her reduced movements aren't anything to worry about. Overall I'm I'm much more relaxed and happy after that x

Sorry for the delay ahh thats good news. As I expected really. At 36 weeks my baby was 6lb 1. My cousin had her baby full term at 6lb so you still got the last few weeks for baby to do the growing. Good luck and keep in touch on here x
