Still worried!!!
I know exactly how you feel as I had a scan a few weeks back when I was only just 7 weeks and saw my tiny little bean and a heartbeat. I was all excited at first until I realised I had to wait another 6 to see them again and check everything is okay.
I'm trying not to worry as the odds are that everything will br okay. I've stopped reading so much stuff on the net as whilst sometimes it can be reassuring it can also be scarey. Did you read any stories from mums who worried and then everything was okay? Chances are you either didn't because it's not in human nature to talk about how right tjings went and shout about it Or that you did but you allowed the tragic loss stories to block them out. I know this because it's what I do.
We need to keep ourselves calm and focus on the positives. Rather than scaring ourselves with what might never happen.
Hi Dizzy20
Although I'm further along than you, I can understand your worry (I'm 38 weeks and on medication for high blood pressure and it scares me to be this close but still be at risk). So hopefully some of the ways I cope can help you too. First, and this is VERY difficult, step away from Dr Google. The internet is full of scare stories from well meaning people who want others to be aware of potential risks, but anyone can create a post on the internet it doesn't have to be based on clinical studies with actual risk analysis. Plus, if you're like me, once you look at one thing, you'll start looking at all the related links and getting yourself in a proper tizz.
Second, try to concentrate on what you CAN do to increase your chance of a healthy pregnancy, avoid the foods on the NHS list, take some gentle exercise, and listen to your body.
Finally, try to be positive. Notice I said increase your chance in the paragraph above not reduce your risk Sadly I had a miscarriage with my last pregnancy and I realised this time that I would drive myself mad if I started worrying early on. I knew I couldn't spend 40 weeks worrying, and by and large I've been fine. You're not alone in worrying before the 12 week scan, I think we all do it but it does make life very difficult while you wait for that reassuring movement/heartbeat at 12 weeks.
I hope that helps.
I have my scan in three weeks so I will keep thinking positive! Thank you ladies I have come down with bad heartburn which is making me feel abit sicky I'm just having one of those days am going to keep of dr google too! Xx
Hi Dizzy
First of all stop reading negative things online. Concentrate on the positive aspect of looking after yourself and baby. The first scan showed everything is okay and you don't have any symptoms to indicate otherwise. You are almost 10 weeks and remember in a few weeks the chances of a miscarriage will dramatically drop at 12 weeks. I lost a baby in Nov 2012 at 8 weeks and to be honest with you I have blocked out all the negative thoughts and refuse to think otherwise I am 12 weeks plus 3 days today and due my first scan tomorrow. Just stay positive and focus on the fact that you are going to go all the way. Sincerely wishing you and your baby the best. XX
The risks of miscarriage drop as move through the first trimester so at nearly ten weeks you are doing well. As others have said do everything you can to be healthy and happy this will help you feel calm. Feel the symptoms and look forward to seeing your little acrobat soon.
