How far gone are you?

I had horrendous oedema in my legs ankles and feet, laying down will help the swelling go down to some extend and if you also do with the feet higher then the heart but only do this for about 30 mins I would say. I used to get my partner to massage my feet and ankles to push fluid back into circulation.

Do they hurt as the skin is so tight? X

I found during my pregnancy last year the hot & humid weather played a big part with the swelling of my feet as the more my body temperature seemed to rise my feet would somehow gain more pressure.

Could this possibly be the case for you too ?

If like myself you've got another child to cater for you could try doing things like some quick & easy meals for you & child & keep your feet up as much as you can.

xx

Hey,

I feel your pain, I'm currently going through the same thing....even struggling with flip flops now :-( I've found that the hot weather has made things worse.

I've mentioned my feet to my Midwife several times. She says it's normal, as our little bundles of joy are restricting the blood flow, causing water retention, etc!

I've had a small amount of swelling in my fingers - but this is again down to the weather. If you've noticed a significant amount in your hands and face, then I would arrange an appointment with your Midwife, who will take a urine sample to check for pre eclampsia (this is always checked during appointments anyway).

Meanwhile, all I can suggest is to avoid socks, tights, tight ankle trousers and boots. Keep your feet elevated when you can and soak your feet in lukewarm water - I've got a 'foot bath' lotion from Boots, which is quite refreshing X

Just get someone medical to look at it, my cousin had swollen feet and turned out to be a clot developing. she just needed blood thinners for a week. It's probably not that and just normal swelling, but blood thickens in pregnancy and it's always good to get an opinion. X

Definately get them checked out! Especially if you are swelling else where. I wore support tights in the day which helped a bit, then lots of feet up rest at night. Mine did develope into pre eclampsia so you need to keep an eye on it and not just presume it's a pregnancy symptom x

You need to just keep an eye out that other parts don't swell x I had pre eclampsia and my face really swelled too. I'm sure you will be fine, put your feet up and have a rest xx If your concerned just pop and see your midwife to be on the safe side xx
