My little one is 9 weeks and has torticollis. As a result of this she has a flat head. She has been offered physio but nothing for her flat head. Anyone else had this ? Will the flat head just go ? Thanks xxx

Alot of babies these days have flat heads due to being told to lay on their backs when they sleep...my lo started to get a flat head so I laid him on his side or got him to keep his head to the side when sleeping... Don't know if u can do that. .. But I'm sure the physio will be able to tell u x

Awww bless, I've looked after a little boy with both these conditions. Unfortunately treatment for flat head syndrome isn't funded by the nhs so your unlikely to be offered anything by your physio. Flat head can and in most cases does correct itself when baby is sat up more and less pressure is put on the flat side of the head (this is one of the reasons tummy time is promoted so much so try this as much as you can). The little boys family opted to pay for private treatment when he was about 9 months old. Because he wasn't able to sit up by that point (down to other developmental issues), the pressure on his skull was constant so it looked pretty bad. They went to a clinic in Leeds who fitted him with a helmet to help it, and it made a huge difference. They made the local paper actually in a bid to raise awareness and to try and give the nhs a nudge to help more. Hope that helps Hun, give it time, keep up with the physio and see how you go xx

Hi, my daughter developed a flat head and after asking people on here and doing a bit of research I ordered a Mimos pillow which she sleeps on and I used to use in the pram and when she was playing too (but now she is 5 months she just sleeps on as she spends less time laid down during the day). It has really helped and I would recommend looking into it, I even spoke with a doctor about using it at night as I was nervous about that but she didn't see a problem. Good luck!
