my lg is 8 mths old now and is proving to be very fussy with her eating!! Can anyone give me some ideas on foods she is allowed to eat now. She tends to prefer to be able to pick foods up and eat them herself rather than me feed her!! As many ideas the better!! Many thanks xx

Hi, I did not have a problem with my son he took to food like a duck to water really and ate/eats pretty much anything I give him, if your little one girl likes to feed herself ave you thought about using the nuby nibbler (or something like it) you can put different fruit and veg in it and it reduces the chocking hazard. I used to freeze fruit and put it in when my son was teething he loved it as it was cold and he could chew/suck on it
I got mine at the baby show but I think you can buy them from most high street shops that sell baby products. X
Hi hun.sounds like your baby wants to do baby led weaning! Ive done this with our third and its ace! Messy but ace! I give him everything we have, pasta and cheesey type sauces tend to be his fave atm but enjoys all fruits veg and meats! I would just try and relax and make it fun rather than stressing over the amount she's eating. My hv told me food should be fun until 12months and milk is number one enjoy! Xx
Many babies tend to take to weaning at their own rates so I wouldn't worry about it too much as you mentioned she´d rather pick up (finger type foods) to eat herself which is great as then it gives you a bit of time to maybe do something else (in the kitchen perhaps) whilst shes sitting in her high chair. - fully monitored of course.
My LO is now 5 months old and I've found she likes me to feed her things such as pureed fruits, baby porridge and etc....
I am going to be trying weaning as my lo isn't too great either. .. I'm going to get a high chair and just really cook the veg so he can't choke and lightly mash banana and avacardo pears any soft foods well that's how I'm going to start. .. and just keep trying....Sometimes they want to eat off ur plate so let them is funny my friends lo wouldn't East their food off their plate but would eat the same food off their mums plate!
My LO is coming up 7 months and not eating much yet, am doing 'Archie Led Weaning' so a combo of spooning and feeding himself, he prefers to hand feed but that's a bit tricky in my opinion with Petite Filous! Which he really likes. He won't eat porridge so I tend to offer more breads/rolls toasted off so he can feed himself.
I have tried loads of veg, either purée, mushed or whole but he's not bothered.
Found he likes Cantelope Melon to suck!
He likes dried foods/snacks so trying different things like Organix and such like finger snacks.
Milk is still main source of food so no rush even those my Mum does not agree with my method!
Food is for fun until 12 months.
I also give Wellkid once a day as he won't be getting enough Iron and stuff from my breast milk, the HV said if babies are having at least a pint of formula a day then the vitamins are not necc, this is from 6 months xx
I found when my wee one is feeding himself he drops the food a lot, then wanted it back! So now we put him on a wipe clean mat on the floor with soft fruit and vege cut into fingers, pulses, rice crackers, bread mainly. although at 8 months can just tuck into whatever you're having my wee boy's started to want whatever we were sting about then anyway and meant i got fed! good luck, hope they're getting stuck in and enjoying it
