I have polycystic ovary syndrome so didn't think id be able to get pregnant so a bit of a surprise. But saying this I haven't had a period for 4 months because of pos so not sure how far along I am. Doctor has referred me to hospital to find out but still haven't heard for them for an appointment. Does anyone know how long this takes?

Hi Ellen13,

First of all, congratulations!

Did the Doctor speculate how far along you are, or do you have any inkling as to when you may have conceived?

Is the appointment for the dating scan? I imagine you won't have to wait too long, usually a week to ten days at the latest. They tend to get in touch via letter (well, in my neck of the woods anyway!) You'll be referred to a midwife soon, if you haven't already X

Thank u so much apple-tea. That helps a lot. Doctor doesn't know at all and neither do I :-( I'm not sure what the appointment is for as the doctor just said she will refer me to the hospital and they will be in touch! I'll be standing by the post box haha. Thanks again x

It sounds like it'll be a dating scan :-) If you've not heard in a week start hassling! X

Thanks mummy mummy. I think I will give them a call. Just not really sure how it works as I'm from New Zealand ! Seems to be a bit different . But who knows as this is my first! Thanks again for the advice x

Hey, I'd call the early pregnancy unit to chase it up too. Would only give you a rough estimate of dates I think, but if you're curious maybe take a clear blue digital test? Congratulations and hope t goes well :)

Congratulations. Wish you all the best with your pregnancy. As the ladies say chase up the maternity department as I did with my appointments. It's worth asking you never they may have an appointment sooner which you can attend. Dependant on your location you can also get private scans done. Xx
