No, don't spend money on things that arent necessary. I have wasted too much on things I don't need, one thing is a steam steriliser. I use Milton (cold water sterilisation).

Boil the kettle with fresh tap water each time, mix with the formula, cool straight away. Don't use boiled water that has been reboiled or has been sitting longer than 30 mins. Heat it up with boiled water in a jug or stick it in the microwave for a few seconds, shake it very very well to avoid hot spots (what are hot spots? Not good spots lol sorry that might be an age thing [old tv quiz show]).

You can warm it in hot water if you like. I have a bottle warmer and I love it for the convenience.....especially when he was a teeny baby in the middle of the night as its next to my bed lol. I got the avent one when on offer for £12.50 and I wouldn't be without it. But definitely hot water is fine to heat through or make fresh each time and cool to your needs :-) x

Armywag...I love my steam steriliser!! I see it as an investment as I'm not done babymaking just yet ;-) lol x

LOL it's the white elephant in our house! Pointless when the milton is so simple and handy. I keep looking at it and thinking "I must sell it" but I just can't be bothered at the moment :p

I agree - love my bottle warmer and my steam steriliser!

Yep,

Just like the last replies I think a ceramic bowl with some boiled hot water is just as good.

It does the same job as what a £60-£70 bottle warmer would do & the baby will never know any different.

I was given a bottle warmer- bloody useless!! It's now on my best side table with cold water in it, occasionally being used to actually cool down bottles that are a bit warm lol mainly because I can't actually be bothered moving it!!

I used hot water and found it perfectly Good being a first time mum, And I found most restaurants had a tommee tippee one I asked, to heat up his bottles when we went out. Second time around now, I'm considering one myself as il have 20month age gap and will be on the go more, only if I can find one on offer though :P

Your baby may like room temperature milk, my friends did this for all 3 boys. x

My bottle warmer is never used! They take too long. I fill a baby bottle half with cooled boiled water, then top it up with hot water from a flask when needed ( lots of midwives will tell you to buy a flask) and add the powder. Good when out and about and an awful lot quicker than warming by standing in a bowl of hot water.

Warm water will do the job fine, but I must admit I find the bottle warmer so easy and convenient in the middle of the night. We paid £20 and that was full price - keep an eye out for discounts.
