Hi everyone I went to the dentist yesterday and they told me I need two fillings, I am not in any pain with them and I don't get any bother is it safe to have this work done at 19 wks pg or is it best to wait until little one is here? They did say I would need injections to numb. Thanks xxx

Have a chat with them to check. Do you know you're entitled to free NHS dental treatment when pregnant?

and up to a year after the baby is born :)

I had loads of work done while pregnant. .its free and the thought of having all tht work done then having to look after a newborn didnt sound like an idea...Obviously they shud know ur pregnant as u shud hav ur exemption card so b fine...make most of it however painful as u dont get much for free these days. Xx

All dentistry work is fine as long as you're not under a General Anaesthetic. I had crowns and fillings with my first child and around 4 weeks ago I had root canal treatment (I'm 35 weeks pregnant). The only thing the dentist said to me with the root canal was regarding dental xrays. He advised against them if you are in the first trimester but fine after that.

I'm a dental nurse, it's completely fine to have it done, the anaesthetic won't affect baby, dentists will normally wait till after 12 weeks and obviously ur past that point and yes it's completely free if u have ur maternity exemption card for proof xx

Its a complete non issue; don't worry. Had my second 'while pregnant filling' on Friday and all good. Remember it's called Local Anaesthetic for a reason -it's localised to that area so no harm done to baby. Much worse for you if you don't get treatment done.x
