Anyone ever been induced at 39 weeks?
Yes Me! Was my best labour ever! They broke my waters put the drip up. ..I sat on a rocking chair when the contractions started really got things going. .. midwife kept an eye turned the oxytocin off when my body took over. . Had an epidural when pain got too much then pushed him out wheni got to 10cm... make sure u tell them to turn it off when and if ur body can take over. .. it doesn't always with my second it didn't and I had to have an emergency section x
Ahhh that's reassuring!!! But isn't he really only 37 weeks? cause they add the two weeks on? So he will be okay?
I might be getting induced at my blood pressure been high and then low!!! xx
My 2nd daughter was induced at 37 wks and 4 days as there were concerns about her growth. The induction went pretty smoothly and she was born the following day weighing 5lb 13 oz with no health issues and needing no special care except checking her blood sugar levels as she was small.
Im being induced on the 17th, so this is a useful post for me too. glad to hear positive stories! I will also be 39 weeks! Im sure we will do fine! Stay positive! x
I was induced at 40+3, my birth story was posted a few weeks ago. If your having BP issues I would not take any risks, 39 weeks pregnant and yeah baby is about 37 but that's great & many babies are born earlier then that & do very well. Xx
I was induced at 37 weeks because of high blood pressure and pre eclampsia. They gave me a couple of steroid injections a few days before inducing to ensure baby's lungs were fully developed because they thought I was having a small baby. They then told me to be prepared to wait four days from the first stage of induction (pessary)-12 hours later after the pessary was inserted I had given birth naturally.
I was scared at the time but Looking back I'm glad I was induced as I was at the hospital being well looked after the whole time. My baby was a very healthy 7lb 1oz and the only issue he had was some jaundice which is very common.
Remember the doctors know best and want the best for you and baby. Good luck xxx
I was induced at 37 weeks too - for pre-eclampsia. The steroids are given in case you need a c-section, Littlepickle, as per NICE guidelines on c-section before 40 weeks. Sections are not as physiologically stressful as vaginal delivery, so baby doesn't get exposed to stress hormones as they otherwise would. The dexamethasone helps with the last step in maturation of lots of different organ systems, inc nervous system xxx
My LO was also jaundiced - not sure if this was due to coming before he was ready (laboured for 67h - he really didn't want to budge) or delayed cord clamping! Either way, it bought us another 4 days in hospital
No they class babies as full term from37 because of when u concieved so don't worry x
