Hiya,
I got letter from my GP for seasonal flu vaccination. I wonder does the vaccination contain living microbes? Last years in another country I got flu vaccination and I got flu and felt sick. Is this like as I said?

Flu jag in the uk is completely safe for pregnant women and does not contain live flu virus. I got the flu jag at about 4 weeks pregnant and felt Absolutley fine afterwards. I asked doctor before I got it and she told me its 100% safe x
I had the flu jab and its like anything people get different reactions. .I was fine with it but when I had whooping cough I felt bit rubbish but I kno women on here who were fine with it. X
Morning, like with any vaccine the benefits need to out weigh the risks. It's not a live vaccine & the medical professionals wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't safe. Like Ceribean said about the Whooping Cough, I had a few rough days but you take that over your newborn being sick or worse. If I were in your position I would get vaccinated
The flu jab was the best thing ever! I had it in January/February when I was about 8 weeks pregnant and I had no reaction to it and neither did the baby. Then I got through the rest of the crap weather and early work mornings with barely a sniffle while everyone around me who didn't get the jab got colds and flu!
I've not had as much as a mild cold since having the annual Flu vaccine for work!
No - no live components, just the epitopes (the bits on the surface of the virus that your immune system detects). It is impossible to get flu from the flu vaccine for this very reason. Some people are unlucky and actually have early flu infection when they have the jab... Some people can have a strong response to the vaccine from their immune system (temp, aches and headache being most common), but this is your immune system working, not the Flu.
The vaccine changes every year to cover the 5 expected most common strains for that year (calculated by careful epidemiological study), so having it last year will not cover you for this x
