Hey guys,
Does everyone get a flu vaccine when pregnant?
I have always been a bit scared to get it - but I presume it is necessary when pregnant??
I am due to discuss with my GP next week and unsure what to think.

Yes definitely have it done lovely. I had the vaccination done for both my children. They will also check your immunity for whooping cough and other things. With Autumn and Winter coming, it’s a must 💕
Thanks hon. I will go ahead then when they offer it to me. I was afraid it would be toxic for the baby....

Both flu and whooping cough immunisations recommended in pregnancy. I have a flu jab every year as I work in healthcare and never had a problem.
Whooping cough is on the increase and the injection is given in the hope that the protection your body produces crosses to baby so that they have some protection before their 8 week injections.
Neither are live vaccines so you can’t get the condition from the injection.
Thanks Zoe.
Convinced now! It sounds very risky not to.
Thanks for replying.

It’s a must Hun same with the whooping cough injection Hun x congratulations x
Thanks for responding - I never realised I was so clueless! Will def get both. xxx
It’s funny when I had my first she’s now 15 I didn’t get offered either not even the anti d which you may have if your o neg blood same with my second she’s 5. Now on my 3rd I’ve had everything thrown at me 😂so I was unaware too x x
so funny how things change! xxx
Yup the midwife was convinced I was lying too 😏I was like nope what’s the anti d and flu jab I’m not old lol and the whooping cough what’s that 😂😂
Anti d has been around since the 70s, my aunt had ot with my cousin ... hes about 40! ... I think the schedule has changed in that previously only given after birth ... so maybe you forgot about it?
Do not get the flu vaccine. Do your research on vaccines. I never had any vaccines. Dont go by what everyone is telling you to do and think about why they really give vaccines
I’ve done loads of research on vaccines so would be interested in why you think ‘they really give vaccines’?!
I went to my consultant today and she reassured me. Flu and whopping cough is so dangerous and especially when I am giving birth in winter months.
Xxx
Absolutely- I’ve had the whooping cough one and will be having all the vaccines offered and once little one is here he will be fully vaccinated. I’m just curious as to the rationale of taby’s claim. Especially with the evidence of the resurgence of diseases that were almost eradicated that coincided with the anti-vaxxer movement - anyone who would put their child at risk of dying of entirely preventable diseases must have a good reason so I’d like to hear it!
Of course do what you feels best for you and baby Eb2001, . But if jenna01 you say youve done your research on vaccines and not just by the leaflets they give you then maybe you havent diged deep enough.Do you know whats inside the vaccines? Have you asked whats inside the vaccines? I just want you all to know that having any kind of vaccine doesnt make you immune to whatever its for so you might want to really contemplate what your injecting yourself with. If you can manage eating the right foods whilst pregnant and in general it helps massively.
I think that is why I posted - I was afraid they were toxic for the baby as I am trying to eat healthily etc etc.
Thanks for your response I am happy to get everyones point of view.

Thanks Eb for your friendly response. All the best.
That explains why your all for it Jenna.
I highly doubt they would ever recommend something harmful to babies for you during pregnancy. Personally having researched into vaccines myself, with input from a former midwife and former nurse, now health visitor. If they recommend a course of treatment during pregnancy its probably for the best.
You really need to start looking deeper than what your just told by midwifes and health visitors. I never had flu vaccine or whooping cough vaccine and they dont always tell pregnant ladies to get it,they never recommended it. I really hope you dont think by getting these vaccines that your immune to getting it because thats far from it.
You are making some very odd claims without backing it up with any shred of evidence - I can say unicorns are real as many times as I like, there are pictures on the internet and everything so it must be true right?! Where is the evidence to back up your claims please I would be really interested to read it. No, not all vaccinations work in everyone, they don’t claim to give 100% immunity. The flu jab is formulated 6 months in advance predicting which strains will be most prevalent based on the previous flu season in Australia. There will be some strains that aren’t covered. There are also a small demographic for which the vaccine doesn’t elicit a strong enough immune response to give immunity and that is where herd immunity comes into play - if enough of the population are immune then the disease won’t spread throughout this population - that is what has afforded you protection from the diseases you didn’t get dispite not being vaccinated! Neat huh?! But when you start convincing people not to be vaccinated is where the trouble starts, there is worldwide epidemic of the resurgence of measles currently due to low vaccination numbers caused by the FRAUDULENT paper published by a shamed doctor who has since been struck off claiming The mmr causes autism. We have several kids in our paediatric hospital who are now critically unwell with the disease when measles was almost unheard of 5 years ago. This is all the evidence I need to know that vaccines are effective!
I did my own research as well do not try to educate me as I am not than educated. I have an autistic child and he was autistic b3fore his vaccinations the signs were there from day one and no I didn't have any vaccinations myself while pregnant with him.
Get off your Damn high horse and show people the proper certified research papers into your claims.
Yes - I’m trained in administering vaccinations actually so I know every ingredient and what it does and why it’s included. Hence why I’m so curious as to what you think you’ve found out? There’s a lot of urban legends and scare tactics and falsified ‘research’ out there that people have mindlessly followed and decided that despite no CREDIBLE trials showing a link to autism, they convince themselves it does. Vaccines also haven’t included thiomersal (Mercury) since the 90’s. This website addresses all the scare lingering myths currently in circulation with science based factual answers. Would recommend giving it a read! vaccinate.initiatives.qld.g...
I would personally opt out I’m never ill and really wouldn’t want it, I didn’t have it in my other pregnancies either.
This is such a controversial topic and one which I am trying to research at the moment. I had flu last year but it was the oz one which I wouldn’t have been vaccinated for anyway. There is a research paper out there that indicates the antibodies your body creates whilst pregnant after vaccines has been liked to autism.
Not sure it’s worth the risk! ?
Sorry but there's actually no official research linking vaccines to autism. The latest research links it to a genetic anomaly that affects howtha brain functions. Autism causes a difference the way the brain synapses fire. It isn't caused by vaccines. If it was how do you explain people who are autistic that never had them because they didn't exist autism didn't only start existing once vaccines were started.
All the research that did kink autism to vaccines was thrown out as the Dr that did it admitted he falsified results and things.
As someone who has worked with lots of autistic children, vaccines do not cause autism.
Thanks for your reassurance. Xxx
I have an autistic child and trust me EB2001. His vaccinations didn't cause it. He was showing signs before he had them and I didn't have time for any while I was pregnant as we found out I was pregnant late on. His younger brother has had all the same vaccinations he had and I had flu and whooping cough ones and he isn't autistic.
To take it from someone whose spent the past few years looking into why and how. Autism isn't caused by vaccination.
Thanks Kate. I am going to proceed and get the vaccines. I think for me it is the best option.
Appreciate your responses. Xxx
No problem. You do what you feel is best for you and your child. I just can't stand people spouting vaccines cause autism when there is no proof latest research links it to something else entirely. And besides that they say it like its the worst thing in the world. Yes my eldest is a handful but he's also super caring and kind dotes on his brother and the other brother I'm currently pregnant with and he's super smart. He may have difficulty with some things in life butI wouldn't change him for the world.
I had no idea my message would spark such a debate.
I am sure your son is beautiful. 😀
Xxx
I couldn’t have it as I had fits to whooping cough injection as a child and they rather I did not have the flu vaccine just to be on the safe side xx
Basically you don't want the flu whether you're pregnant or not. Not had it myself but know people who have. Equally it's harmful to the baby. I had mine just before I found out I was pregnant, due to having asthma and due to my work, I've also had it most years since I was diagnosed with asthma. It's never done me any harm nor has it my baby. My attitude for my pregnancy was if it's recommended by medical professionals who are trained in their jobs it's worth doing.
Thanks - yes I think I will do it xxx
I had flu jab with my first. Pregnant again and due in November! My drs said they won’t be giving them out till October time xx
Thanks! xxx
I would definitely recommend this I’ve got a three month old baby boy and I was pregnant the whole of flu season I had it ASAP. I’ve never had it before and will only have it when pregnant it’s to protect your baby.
Yes as I am giving birth in flu season it is def recommended. Xxx
Had them both with both of mine.
The whopping cough is suggested because a few years ago there was an outbreak of children under 8 weeks of age before first vaccines., sadly compounded by the fact that not everyone vaccinated now a days.
For all anti baxters who do their 'research' ... why is it that the vast majority (if not all) doctors vaccinate their own children if it is so bad? Just a thought!
I dont think any of you realise the possible side effects to any of these vaccines. It just takes that 1 to possibly change you for life. There have actually been documentaries on children suddenly changing after they have these vaccines. If you can list all the stuff thats inside these vaccines ans actually know what they are, then by all means go ahead. But if you cant even pronounce some of the stuff listed in it without knowing what it is or what it can do, then its up to you.
None of these vaccines will prevent you from getting ill.anyone saying people would rather risk their children getting ill than being vaccinated, is very ignorant as your injecting yourself and your child with things you dont know which can possibly harm you in the long run. And whoever said mercury isnt in the ingrediants is wrong, there is.
Let's hope your children never get measles or polio or meningitis then. All possible killers or leaving your children severely disabled.
People ignore medical advice about vaccines yet when their children get I'll they take them to those same doctors who advocate vaccines ... ironic ... so they either know their.stuff or they don't.
The nurses who administer the vaccines know these drugs inside out - if you’re worried about any of the ingredients and you want them to go through them with you please just ask and they will be more than happy to do so!
And no - Mercury is definitely not included in the ingredients anymore. Not that it mattered as the quantity included in the old ones was less than a fraction of what you’d find in a portion of tuna anyway 🤷🏼♀️
My parents had the flu injection and were ill for weeks after.
The flu vaccine is very important when pregnant. I never got it but it resulted in me having pneumonia towards the end of my pregnancy. I’d definitely advise it. Xx
I have always been pro vaccine and would recommend them. I have some medical experience so know how they work and all the stuff in them - it's really fine. Myself and son were vaccinated against flu last year (was pregnant but it failed due to genetic abnormality). It can not give you flu. It doesn't work that way. My mum who didn't get the flu vaccine despite being a terrible asthmatic as it hurt for a few days after came to visit me last Nov. Within 2 days she was in my local critical care unit at hospital fighting for her life. There was talk about putting her in a coma and hooking her up to a ventilator rather than the face mask thing she was on. It was scary. She pulled through. No one else in my house got it. She still has some issues now but will be getting the vaccine this year.
It's a horrific disease and I just can't see a baby fighting it.
I had flu vaccine and whooping cough. Would 1000% recommend getting them. Why take the risk, in my opinion.
Congratulations and good luck!
The whooping cough vaccine is very important - the antibodies are passed through to baby. Remember that it’s not a live virus in the vaccine, so you will not contract the condition. It does give you a very sore arm for 3-4 days though 😂 (I think due to the tetanus vaccine also included in the jab).
The flu vaccine though, well that’s just for you (you are more susceptible when you are pregnant) & is entirely personal choice. As far as I am aware, the immunity will not pass to baby and it’s one of many many strains, so you could easily contract a different strain. Personally I’m not going to get the flu vaccine for this reason, but I’d suggest you have a chat to your GP so you can make a reasoned decision.
Thanks! Will speak to them at my appointment next week xxx
