Hi everyone,
I was just wondering what peoples personal opinions were off getting the whooping cough jab? I have noticed a few people on here getting it. But I have heard both positives and negatives. I would appreciate some feedback!!
Thanks xx

I had it today as although I have an aching arm and feel a bit rough that's nothing compared to what could happen to my child if he did get it. x
Had it two weeks ago - no side effects , not even a sore arm. Flump totally unbothered by the whole affair!
I have my appt booked for July 1st, not read the leaflet yet that i was given at my MW appt but as I was at docs this morn thought may as well get booked in, I can always cancel later. I will PM you chick xx
My consultant said there's absolutely no risk to baby as its not a live virus, compared to what could happen if your baby gets it I was told there was no reason not to get it. I had the flu jab too and pleased I did
Definitely have it done. Little babies need all the protection we can give them no matter how big or small xx
Yeah I would deff get it.. too much of a risk if you don't. I had it at 29 weeks.. now 40 tomorrow and had a bit of a sore arm and that was it xxx

Thanks everyone, it's just scary when the injection itself is so new you just want to know you are making the right decision, nows the time to decide xxx
It isn't new - it's been given as routine on the continent and a similar vaccine is given in the States. It's been given now here as there was a pertussis epidemic last winter, and pertussis usually has two peaks a year...
Trust me - having seen a baby die of pertussis in an A&E resus, that is not something I would wish on anyone. I was there seeing an adult patient in the next bay, and I will never, ever forget mun's cries - primeval and haunting. Everyone in resus at the time was sent off duty for half an hour (once our respective patients were stable) to collect ourselves - that never happens usually after a resus death...
Not sure the evidence is compelling it will be that effective but equally nothinv to suggest harmful. Had mine 2 weeks ago no probs arm didnt really even ache!
I don't know if I should get it 26 weeks ATM and also have a 16month old how do they do that do only I get it or also my child for when the baby comes he will still be under the age of two any advice on this
I had it, was completely fine, baby was completely fine. The vaccine has been used since 2004 apparently and "absolutely NO side effects for the baby have been recorded after birth". Better to be safe than sorry, perhaps.
