Did drinking alcohol effect your getting pregnant?
My eldest was unplanned and I was only 21 so doing a lot of drinking at the time! So it obviously didn't affect things that time. It took quite a while to conceive this time (I had been on the depo injection in between babies and I think that had a lot to do with it), however after 16 months I decided to totally cut out all alcohol (I was a glass of wine 3-4 times a week girl) and that was the month we finally conceived!
I don't think it would be fair to say that knocking booze on the head was the only reason I managed to fall pregnant but it may well have helped. It's certainly a wise idea to cut down alcohol consumption if you're trying to get pregnant, if not cut it out totally.
Good luck if you're trying to conceive
I honestly think everyone is different, I personally used to like a few drinks & i dont think its ever affected my fertility or anything. But on the other hand i have a friend who has difficulty concieving & some-how puts it down to the amount she used to drink a few years ago.
She's being pregnant before but unfortunately has always resulted in miscarriges.
So as i said i think it can just be a very unfortunate thing.
xx
I would say if your 'trying' to conceive everything in moderation that goes for your partner too.
Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? Its a really good idea so your getting the Folic from the word go and your partner should take Zinc to to boost swimmers
We all like a tipple or three. I wouldn't say it reduced my chance BUT I am no expert. They do say in the blurb that they give you if you are trying to conceive for you and your partner to cut down or avoid it but we never.
Think I conceived after a night out, so yes
Hee hee, someone who knows the difference between affect and effect--a dying breed! On a slightly more serious note, my carefully controlled research conducted by talking to friends and watching Jeremy Kyle has led me to conclude that alcohol is actually the leading cause of pregnancy, so Plou, no need to obsess as long as you're not drinking more than you should, but maybe avoid getting smashed, as often a fair amount of time passes between conception and realizing you're pregnant, and alcohol isn't good for little'un.
When I started trying to conceive last July I pretty much knocked it on the head got stuck into loosing weight going the gym and eating healthy to aid my chances. I did still drink on occasion though but completely went off it when I was a few weeks and didn't know. Tbh that was my trigger to knowing it had happened.
I pretty much stopped drinking for two years and encouraged my husband to cut down too, then we went on a lovely two week holiday with lots of sun and we drank most nights not excessively but I knew I had been drinking and hey presto we got back and found out I was pregnant and all the tests have on Wriggler have come back as normal. I was a little concerned as I did get very drunk on a work night out at about three weeks pregnant as I didn't know. I think that we had been trying for so long I didn't believe it would happen this time. It may have been a case of relaxing and increased vitamin D. You will hear this a lot everyone is different... I would echo cheekymonkey3791 and start taking your vitamins and everything in moderation. Good luck! X
Yep, got hammered and forgot the condom!
On a serious note, I had for no particular reason been drinking less, and then had a really great, relaxing Christmas holiday where I ate and drank whatever I felt like. Obviously did the trick.
Yes, I think so. I was alcohol dependant - always had super irregular periods since teenage years, when I came off the pill and started trying for a baby only eventually got pregnant months later when I stopped drinking completely, as opposed to when I wasn't due to ovulate.
