Currently in hospital because not coping with the diarrhoea problems. Now they tell me I have avery high CA125 reading which indicates ovarian cancer. I have only 1 ovary which is invisible on scans and have had 2 clear CT scans and a clear ultrasound.
Was wondering is radiotherapy can cause inflammation and affect the CA125 reading?
Thanks,
Kathy

Radiation damage is a possibility. I am also awaiting investigation due to bowels not behaving properly. After many successful treatments have cured cancer, its only in the last few years that the damage from treatment is being truly addressed. All the symptoms I've had since radiation have been treated separately by wonderful consultants, GP's etc but it wasn't until I found a late effects clinic that I felt heard and it has helped to have all the symptoms and side effects acknowledged. I hope that nothing untoward is found and that you have a team who can help you manage your situation. xx
Thank you. Unfortunately I am not so lucky as the doctors here do not have a clue really and I am stuck in bed with nothing happening for 5 days now. Just keep telling me to eat! They organise scans but nothing can be seen.
I requested a referral to a late effects clinic last December and have an appointment for next April!
Hi Echium, so sorry to hear you're in hospital. I was diagnosed with Bile Acid Malabsorption following my radiotherapy and the biggest symptoms is Loose stools. I'll pop a link to a very useful site below so you can have a read and chat to your medical team.bad-uk.org/
I had been told early on in my treatment that CA125 was not a reliable reading, mine always went all over the place and the hospital decided not to continue taking mine and now does not offer it as part of follow up. I would go by the scans as they are a better reading, with MRI being the better of the two. Good luck with your treatment.
