Post radiotherapy back pain

I had chemoradiotherapy treatment in 03/2021 for the return of colorectal cancer in followed by surgery in 07/2021.

During the chemoradiotherapy I suffered from low back back pain and skin issues in the same area. I was told that this would settle down once I had recovered from the treatment.

The tumour was resting against my spine and a neurosurgeon had to shave a part of the bone to provide a clear margin from the tumour.

Every 6/8 weeks I now suffer from severe back pain in the same area which lasts a couple of weeks or so. The medical experts put this down to the micro fractures caused by the radiation treatment.

However, they do not seem to be able to advise on the area of visible bruising I also get at my low back which comes and goes at the same time as the pain.

I did have pre-existing low back issues before the treatment.

I have had x-rays and an MRI scan last week to see if there is any visible cause for the problem.

I was wondering if anyone else suffers from similar external bruising and, if so, have your medical experts been able to determine any cause and treatment?

Many thanks

Rach
