The answer to your question about nicotine in your body is best answered by your medical advisors/practitioners. Please take this up with your practitioners. Good luck. Pjmr 1019.

I am not a medical person but it does take awhile to detox from smoking. As with drinking, they like to see people clean for 6 months prior but I do not know if this is a fact written in stone. They ask all patients to stop smoking before transplant and they do test for nicotine in the blood prior. Smoking is not recommended after transplant but some people do. Smoking constricts the blood vessels etc. which is hard on kidney transplants especially and being immune suppressed puts people at a much higher risk for lung cancer promoted by smoking.

Does this help?
