Hi, my name is Kelly and I had a liver transplant from a live donor on 12/7/16. We are both healthy now but she had 3 blood clots after our surgery.

Glad you and your donor are healthy now Kelly. My brother was my donor and he suffered a bowel blockage after our surgeries. A few rough days for him but he was fine with a few weeks.

It felt so bad for him and my parents. They didn't know why child needed them more. thankfully that was 12 years ago and we are both well.

Thank you, I am glad all is now well with you and your brother. I wouldn't know what to do if both of my kids went through that. I am glad you are both well and 12 years is remarkable.

My donor and I are approaching the year mark and I find myself getting emotional (just as much as I was a few weeks out of surgery). I know it is common it has just been a year of wonder.

Hi Kelly,

So glad you are part of the group and welcome. Glad your donor is all well. When I had my first transplant in 1987, my brother was the donor. At that time, the operation was very extensive and as my brother went from a very healthy state his body was in shock from the effects of this massive operation and susequent removal of his kidney. So he had bowl blockage, he was unable to urinate on his own for a few days and really had a difficult time recouping from a major operation. I can understand that a healthy body has some fine tuning adjustments to do after surgery. But the body has an incredible way of healing itself and adjusting. Congratulations to you both on this amazing transformational donor/recipient experience. Jean Angela
