Hi sashaming1, you are so right to point out all of the 'possibles' and 'probables'. Often in reports like these, those words tell us much more than the actual article does! Always start and end with the science and check with health professionals, because many sources online are unreliable and can even cause harm. My rule of thumb is always to ask why, if a subtance is really so effective, science hasn't taken it and worked with it to provide better treatment or a cure, rather than spend billions on the drugs which are actually being used for treatment. But, if you've checked with your doctor and been given a really informed opinion, it might be worth checking some of these out.
In my experience I would avoid reflexology as it has caused me to flare horrifically. I used to have it regularly before I got sick but after I became ill it was a big no no. I know of others who have experienced bad flares after reflexology which is such a shame because it was a real treat before I got unwell.
Magnetic therapy ...my understanding bis that there is no medical evidence that this works but as you know evidence isn't everything, sometimes it's down to patient experience. So if it works fur you then why not go with it?
Personally, I would avoid Ginkgo Biloba. This is only my personal opinion but I saw so many intra cranial haemorrhages in people who took Ginko and at the time studies were being done to see if there was a link between these horrific brain bleeds and Ginko.
Saying that, these are all my own opinions and experience. I thibk if someone finds something that works for them then they should go for it.
I think in due course alot of previously "banned" drugs will be proven to have a therapeutic use. My consultant is currently in the process of trying to get me a patient named drug. Basically they have to apply for funding for a medication that is off license but if we're successful it could be life changing. But it's going to take years to get approval I think.
Let us know how you get on and what your experiences are.
