Inspired by a photograph by Nick Jenkins. I loved this place when I was studying at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, in the 1970s. It was a hefty feeling walk over Constitution Hill -- and a hefty one back-- to a naturally sloth-like person as myself. But I loved going there to see the tortured rocks (I am a geologist by training) and the bouncing breakers.
As regards this painting, I am very pleased with the waves, which just involved dropping fresh water into a wash of Indian Red and then adding a little Payne's grey. The other colours used were indigo and lamp black. About as simple as I have ever been.

Thank you, RR44. I really am beginning to wonder if I dare one day put a painting or two on Etsy. It seems such a huge step to take. Would I wind up like Van Gogh, selling just the one painting (probably to my wife)?
Hi Brent, lovely painting. Great handling of the waves - may try that approach myself. Just down the road from me as I live in the mountains above Aberystwyth. X
You have excellent perspective in this painting. I think you should give Etsy a go. A friend of mine sells her hand made furniture on there and does pretty well.
Hi Brent_Wilson, Congratulations on your 'Artist' badge which is so richly deserved. This is another stunningly beautiful painting with a wistful sort of vibe. (Maybe that's you, remembering past times!). But lovely anyway! π
My first holiday to Clarach bay in a little chalet with my husband nearly 40 years ago ,have stayed in Peny_bont cottage by the church on numerous occasions ,love it there
