What disabilities and conditions are you thinking about
I think it might be good if you asked for contributions from people who have lived or who are living with disabilities and/or mental health conditions. Hope you don't mind the suggestion. I think we can all help to educate each other. 🙂🌸
I don’t mind the suggestion at all 😄
Very good idea Marnie. From the way hb worded the post I thought she was saying she could educate us about various issues. Not being ageist but wasn't sure how much a 17 year old could teach me about mental health!
I figured out years ago that due to media pleas for donations, that 100% of the worlds population has some adverse health condition. We tend to look at other who seemly healthy and compare ourselves unfavorably to others. I attended a retreat several years ago and one of the retreat class leaders asked everyone to write down one thing that they would change about themselves, very telling. I was only attendee that did not have something I would like to change, but rather I am happy with myself, warts and all. Your suggestion is great as we all have to have coping methods. Blessings.
Thank you. I have a bit of an unusual view on this, as almost five years ago I suffered a brain injury in hospital that stopped me from working and caused many disabilities. The most difficult part, however, has been that it has changed my personality. I am aware of how I used to be but I am so very different now. It's a weird situation to be in. I am still learning how to evaluate all the changes. 🙂🌸
An excellent post Hiba and I think Marnie22 has a very good suggestion. 💜 xx
We can do one dealing with learning disabilities.
Great posting, Hiba! 😀👍🌈
Thanks I could use all the help I could need 😊
You’re welcome! Where do you want to start?😀👍🌈
Well I want to start with the learning disabilities because people need to know more about them ❤️
Okay, which learning disabilities? There’s a lot of different types.

Hello Hiba I used to volunteer for young adults with Autismn. There are a lot of different types of this. I do not know how to describe it, some of them seemed highly intelligent. They were taught how to cook and ran the kitchen with supervision. A few could be aggressive, I was punched by a young lad at one time, his father made him aware he had done wrong. A couple of the boys did not talk, then again a few of them never stopped. I enjoyed my time with them, I did it for six years. I left after I had a fall and decided enough was enough. I still volunteer for older people, on the phone at the moment.
We should think of people as people - not in therm of their disability.
We should think of people as people, but take into consideration that all people are unique! xx
Experience of living with and working with mental health issues
I have experience of Autism, having a son on the Autistic Spectrum, now in his 20s.
I have a brother with autism ❤️❤️☺️
I know that Hiba, and I think he's very lucky to have you as a sister, you care so much about him, and others, and want to help him in any way you can. That's special! 😊💜
I have experience as a mother of a 12yr old son with a type of eating disorder that's not very common or well known- inability to eat/chew textured foods. This has led to high stress/anxiety for the entire family..it'd be great if you could help spread the word of this type of disability through your wonderful idea of sharing living with disabilities!
