OK. They are doing a difficult job, and nobody has been able to do it perfectly, they are also trying to do something urgent and serious for the very first time with no proven rule of thumb to follow, but have they made serious mistakes and if so which?

There are no right answers - and, mostly, on the few occasions when I thought they "got it wrong", history has proved them right. They did not see the new mutation coming - so lifting the restrictions over Christmas was, in hindsight, not a good decision.
The opposition accuses them of u-turning - but I call it "Thinking on the hoof"
I had an idea that they would pull the plug on Christmas at the last minute which is why I hadn't made any plans so wasn't disappointed when the blow came.
I think they were very silly myself in how they overpromised about Christmas.
