For some people, soy isn’t okay because they either have an allergic reaction to it or they have certain medical issues that will cause other symptoms.

Hi, I’m confused because it has high concentration of phytoestrogen which can affect our female bodies either way. Without allergic rxn and medical issues, Is it really safe to consume?

It depends on the issues (Cancer).

Given Conditions: Healthy lifestyles, no family history of predisposed illness, no health issues but I witness people like my mom generation with unexplained diseases, one thing in common they love having tofu as Asian tradition meal. I don’t consume much as meal plans but I drink a lot of almond and soy milk that I am questioning now and hopefully will hear different perspectives on this. Thank you for your response πŸ™

First of all: πŸ˜‚ Love the picture!

Second of all: Is soy good or bad for you? Yes.

(basically, it depends...)

It’s bad for me I’m afraid, it makes me sick every time I have anything with soya in it. It’s in so many foods as well, even animals that are fed with soya I can’t eat, it’s a nightmare.

Oh I'm so sorry you can't even eat meat that has eaten soy products! I completely understand and try to stay away from soy myself. I don't have as bad of an experience as you, but I do feel bloated and a bit uncomfortable

Thank you, I really found out about soya when my doctor asked me to go dairy free for a month, so I bought dairy free yoghurts which were quite nice and I was so ill after eating it, it alerted me to the fact that soya was one of my no go foods, I can tolerate soya lecithin which is in most chocolate, so not all bad x

in reply to Lizard28

Well that's a positive- I don't know what I would do if I couldn't have chocolate 😧

I was interested in this so I put in my search engine is soya growing bad for the planet. I'm sorry I don't know how to put links up, but one result I found especially interesting was one by SmallFootprintFamily. Soya production is huge business: deforestation, chemicals and GM all being issues, as indeed there are with many foods we consume. It also debunked the theory of Asians eating a lot of soya, interesting reading πŸ˜€ xx

Thank you leo60 for sharing such wonderful source on this topic. It is a true eye opening for me to see how soya production and westerns consider it trendy and the answer to new diet movement. I sure will rethink everything. πŸ˜„ xx

Oh good, I am glad. Knowledge in these things enable us to make the best choices for ourselves, where we could be swayed by what governments and producers want us to do! I have really only recently had my eyes opened to these kind of things by my daughters who, naturally worry about the world we live in and shame me by the effort they put in to β€œdoing the right thing β€œ!! Have a happy Christmas πŸŽ„ xx
