We have several types here. Cool woodpecker factoid from my biologist buddy: Wood peckers don't use their beaks. They have a very hard tongue, which wraps around their brain and pushes forward very rapidly!!!

That's so interesting. I didn't know that. I guess that most people think the same as me- that they use their beaks.

actually, the hard toungue connects to a hyoid bone and that's what rotates around the brain, but very similar!

This is so good Wallowa, well done. We don't get many here any more, we used to get the Green, Lesser and Greater Spotted but we're lucky to see a Lesser Spotted now. xx
