No Walk in the Park

I began noticing wrist and hand soreness a week ago...too much computer time and began restricting. On Friday, 2 electricians come for circuit breaker box replacement and replacement of a front porch motion sensor. I'd washed my favorite "indoor" supportive shoes and had worn a pair of soft fabric shoes (usually for brief jaunts to mailbox or dumpster) most of the day. Saturday, my right foot/ankle began a protest in earnest. Foolish girl just hadn't thought and was on feet with workers in house most of day.

Topped off by waking with a severe crick in the neck...must have wrestled crocodiles and slept like a corkscrewed pretzel! Spent the weekend taking hot, Epsom salt baths, Tylenol and rooting for favorite football teams on sofa with hot pads.

Remembered the relief and help brought by seeing an acupuncturist years ago for a back injury. Although he'd retired and moved back to China, I'd seen the new practitioner a couple of times after her arrival. Was so pleased to see the number still listed and called for an appointment yesterday. Was even more pleased that I could see her the same day. All my aches were on the right side which made the treatment much easier. Could have won the "needle queen of the day" and happy for each one of those tiny, electrically charged needles.

Turned out that she has been practicing here 17 years! Wow how time flies! I tend to procrastinate and was even more glad that I'd called yesterday for the appt. when I learned that she now only works M, W, F. It was a long session and I slept much better last night and this morning feeling less discomfort too. Will see her again Wed. for another treatment but so grateful that I saw her Monday and that I didn't put off making the appointment.

Tuesday, my walk only extended to the end of the block and back. This morning I’ll see the acupuncturist again. My triple whammy right sided pain is much improved and hope this will prove the final need for visits. The last few days have certainly not been “a walk in the park” but these painful lessons will prove good reminders going forward I hope.

Take more breaks from computer; corporal tunnel is no fun! Wear supportive shoes at all times; plantar fasciitis takes long to heal; hug a pillow when sleeping to avoid pretzel cricks from wrestling alligators! Best to all
