I will be donating these to the local animal rescue where we got our cat from, due to covid they are really desperate for donations,so thought I would make them for the sanctuary to sell

Each one could be chosen to match what you are wearing. You are spoilt for choice Judy.

Whose a clever girl then? Well done you.

Thank you

Well done my wife puts a pocket in the inside of the mask and places a tissue in the pocket to act as further filter

I've made some with 3 layers of cotton and some with 2 layers, but no filter pockets. 😁

It is so difficult I have problems breathing with masks I was told the masks restrict intake of Oxygen and we have problems re-breathing spent air.

You’ve certainly been busy and I’m sure the rescue centre will really appreciate your efforts, the masks look great!

I think mask making has been the one thing that’s kept me going during the lockdown! Initially I was just donating them where they were needed but then was getting requests from friends and neighbours, which has helped fund the donated ones, although I have plenty of fabric, not everyone likes patterns, plus I’ve got through quite a lot of elastic and thread!

Making them has certainly taken my mind off my tinnitus to a certain degree,I know what you mean about people not liking the patterns, but hey ho that's life, but think I'll be sticking to white elastic from now on too

I use either black or white elastic depending on the fabric colour, I did have some pink elastic but most people seem to prefer the narrower type. At one point I was going for whatever I could find as it was in very short supply for a while.

I also listen to a lot of podcasts during the day to drown out the tinnitus.

Yes I know what you mean by colour with elastic think I'll be sticking to white once the coloureds gone, not too hard to get it now,but seems a bit pricey now

You have been busy, I bought some from a lady that was makng them for donations to nhs charity she thought she'd maybe make £100 but ended.up making £1000. Charities are being hit badly at the moment.

They truly are very much badly affected and every Penny counts

Yes I do lottery for air ambulance and they rang other day saying could I do 2 lines instead of 1 as not been able to do any events like usual so I said yes £4 a month extra nothing compared to what they do. My Archie from a rescue and they've not been able to do auctions of stuff donated to them so they've just done a Facebook 1 so I've got for something. They're really struggling.

Thank you I do what I can. Usually there's a man outside co-op with 2 beautiful new foundlands ( ones only a pup but still big) collecting for RNLI and I usually have a.chat.and a stroke.....of dogs not him LOL and put in whatever change I've got but of course he's not allowed now but they've been called out a lot lately with kids on paddle boards etc.

RNLI is a very worthy cause, and one that unfortunately is kept so busy

Wow those are some cute patterns/prints :) . I actually use the, newer K95 ( duck like) masks, as a mask pattern to trace onto the fabric, that matches my outfit's/dresses. You can sew the two patterned pieces together, and pin the fabric to the K95 mask's. This way I can wash, and remove the fabric, and the mask to re-use. This past Sunday I went to a cousin's outdoor Garden Baby Shower :) . I used a small portion of the matching head wrap material that came with the dress I wore to make a matching mask. I had no problem breathing with that extra layer of material over the K95 mask :) , I can talk with out any impediments :) , and I can wear matte lipstick when I take it off when I am driving in my car :) . Everyone, including family kept asking me, who made my outfit with the matching mask. I never use the head wraps to cover my hair, that came with the dresses anyway. The wraps are so long that I sometime's use them as scarfs. I can still use the head wrap as a scarf, since that little bit of fabric that I used to make the mask wouldn't be missed :) .

That's a very good idea, sorry for the delay in answering,I've been working nights.

With reference to the type of mask you are wearing,we have been asked by ministers in the government to try not to use k 95 as they are for medical staff, and they need them more than we do,hence home made ones.😁

These K-95 masks were given to my mom, and dad, and they are better than a lot of store bought, or home made masks that still leave gaps for entry :) . I have one K 95 mask that I wash, and re-use :) . I believe they are better than all other mask out there, including the N-95 masks. My mom, and dad who are elderly have 4 masks between them that they wash, and re-use. So these are being re-used, and were not taken from any hospital workers. Have a great day :)
