The first is a Sphinx or hummingbird moth a picture I took on the buddleia at work. The second is a perennial hibiscus in my garden called Holy Grail. The last two are pictures I took at a growers plant trial last week. They had many beautiful varieties and we order a lot from them to finish at our greenhouse. The weather finally broke here last night with a lot of rain. We’ve endured many weeks of humid temps between 30c and 34c with only brief periods of relief. Hopefully it will last awhile!

That’s a name for them too? They are called so many different things!

There are a several different species of hawk moths, I only know the Elephant hawk moth, Privet hawk moth and Hummingbird hawk moth (the one in your photo looks like a Hummingbird to me because of its markings).

Hi Spinner1916, Those are some lovely colourful pics. I had not heard of the hummingbird moth. (I'll have to do some reading later!) Thanks for those, really lovely.👍😊
