I’ve learned to collage!

Thank you to whoever wrote the post about collaging. This is the latest from the greenhouse where I work as well as my cat Angelina a tortie who never poses like this! The tuxedo is Alan in his latest cute pose. The butterfly’s are a Black Swallowtail and a Viceroy.

I have a dream board where I tack up things I want to do or accomplish in the future. I guess that’s a vision board🙂

A, fairly simple, technique. Can I suggest another 'thing' that you can try? Since you clearly Do have, a fair bit of space- where 'things' can be left, for a while.

Have you tried 'Tie Dying'? Basically you need some old buckets (that don't leak!), some food colouring- perhaps Blue, Red, Yellow and Green- Some white, or light coloured T shirts (or other fabrics that you may with to colour) along with a mixture of 'normal' string, twine, elastic bands and pegs. You will also need, a good stock, of old newspapers- so start keeping them for a couple of weeks, before you start this project.

Make up the, different Colour Dyes, in the buckets (you can Experiment with the strengths) and leave these to 'Settle'. In the mean time, Gather up the fabric of the T shirts- or other fabric- and put Elastic Bands, Strings, Twines or Pegs around the 'Gathers'. (Don't worry if you 'only' get one, or two, 'Gathers' per item.)

Once you are happy with the 'Tie'- ing place the Items in the buckets, the 'Dye'- ing. Feel free to Experiment, with different Timings, Colour Mixtures, 'Agitations' and so forth (you can even Plunge around, with an old wooden spoon, if you wish). Once you are 'satisfied', with the Dying, remove the Items and gently squeeze them out- over an empty bucket. Next lay the old newspapers out, over the floor- a few layers thick- before putting the Dyed fabrics onto them.

Allow Most of the liquid to be absorbed, by the newspapers, before gently removing the 'Ties'. You will Reveal an, absolutely amazing array of colours and patterns- all from a few minutes work and a little food colouring. Once the colours have 'set' either Hand wash them, at the sink (bear in mind they will still 'let' colour) or put them in the Washing Machine- on Minimum setting.

Finally remove your Creations, hang them on the 'washing line' and Admire Your Handiwork. Well done you😀.

This project is, for fairly obvious reasons, best carried out on a warm day. Why not get the Grand Children involved- ask 'Mummy' to put then in 'older clothes' or Dungarees first, of course.....😬

Are you in the U.K.? These are Midwest USA species. Maybe that’s why you’ve not seen them. They are pretty aren’t they? I’ll keep posting new species as they show up at work😊
