It was going to happen for his 100th birthday as he fought in world war 2 not sure as a spitfire pilot or just worked on them but he was in WW2 and I believe he is the oldest veteran from WW2
Hi Jennymary, It seems a great pity for a man who has become one of the heroes of the current crisis, but it is apparently feared that such an event would draw crowds to watch it, which is dangerous. But you know what? This is a veteran and a man who has weathered all sorts of adversity. He's already accepted the loss of a big celebration on his birthday, and of all people I'm sure he'll take in on the chin. But, should he live to enjoy more time with us, I hope belated honours are heaped on him!

I’ve just read his has been put on the honours shortlist.
He's done incredibly well with the money he's raised and he's encouraged others to also raise much needed money.
As long as people watch from afar ie. their houses then this should be absolutely fine, people just need to be sensible and let's hope they are.
