I have bronch and asthma and currently off work having been furloughed.
Out of the blue my GP called asking all kinds of questions regarding covid and the current situation during which he asked do I want a dnr option or do I want oxygen treatment at hospital or treated at home and if necessary would I agree with being put on a ventilator in the event of catching this disease. I did feel a little down after this conversation.im just wondering if anyone else has had a similar call ???

Surprising call to get. I guess now worst case scenario the doctors will know what’s what if you need to be treated. I have a very minor diagnosis of asthma and made sure my dogs would have a place to stay in the event I was hospitalized if I got it. I hadn’t thought to create a DNR or a living will. That certainly brings the reality to your front door. Ouch.
There was mention in my newspaper the other day, that the government was asking GPs to check these issues with their patients. Very useful for a GP to know these things, when deciding if to admit someone to hospital, and for the ward to know. My data canister has this information in and the name/contact number of my Lasting Power of Attorney.
Oh that is worrying I would say that you are red flag at risk and the surgery as a procedure contacting the likes of you it is a comfort in a way IF you should get it the best treatment and what you would prefer. Stay home take all the advice keep safe!!!
Work does not help your anxiety we will get through this keep positive!!! Good Luck!! xxx
Thank you all for your replies your put my mind at rest!
Hi John,
I think I would be very impressed if my doctor rang me because it proves that they are being proactive as opposed to being reactive in the unlikely event of anything happening to you. ❤️
