about my eye sight
Hi punk,
Yes, prednisolone can cause problems with eyesight. Because steroids can cause our bodies to bloat up with fluid more than usual, this fluid can effect eyesight because it changes the shape of the eyeball - therefore, it can effect the eyes' ability to focus properly. Many folks complain that their sight becomes more blurry - I know mine did, especially when I was on the higher doses.
Prednisolone can also cause cataracts to form, but I believe this only happens sometimes when high doses are taken for long periods.
If you are having problems with your eyes then my advice is to see your optician as soon as possible.
Pats.
hi pats thanks i will take your advise take care punk
Hi punk
Yes, I had a similar experience to you and remember mentioning to my rheumatologist at one of my early appointments that my vision seemed strange and blurry, especially in one eye. His response was that the steroids were to blame. At the time I was on a high 40mg starting dose for GCA and PMR. I went under the care of a consultant ophthalmologist and eventually was prescribed glasses for the first time for long distance (driving, TV etc). From good eyesight pre-GCA and steroids there has been quite a rapid deterioration in my vision, although perhaps some of the blame can be put put down to Anno Domini!! If it was me I would ask either your GP or rheumatologist to refer you to a consultant ophthalmologist for reassurance as soon as possible. As that could take some time, do get checked meanwhile and as soon as possible by your optician, as Pats has suggested.

I have had GCA and PMR over two and half years. On occasions when I have experienced blurred vision / disturbances I have always visited eye clinic for diagnosis. Due to long term and high doses prednisolone I hav dev glaucoma and a cataract so do not hesitate in getting your eyes assessed / examined by your local eye clinic /hospital.
Best wishes
