pmr update: HI ALL DOWN TO 11MG PRED A DAY GOING... - PMRGCAuk
pmr update
is it pred induced diabetes? not that it is any different whichever way you get it.
I am also type 2 diabetic but was before I went on pred. The pred increased the glucose levels though and I have ended up on 2 medications for it 6 tabs a day.
If you need anymore info go to diabetes uk they are fab. Find them online.
Well done in the reduction, I am struggling but hopefully will get there eventually.
Keep smiling
Sue

Mixed blessings for you there but at least the reductions appear to be going well, and, if the diabetes is steroid-induced, then with any luck once you come off steroids and lose the steroid weight, your blood sugars might return to normal. Meanwhile, it helps if you can reduce your intake of such carbohydrates as bread, parsnips and white potatoes (can be substituted with sweet potatoes). I do hope you have a better year.
Me as well down to 9mg ,afraid another problems with taking steroid up go blood sugar ,mine after coming off steroid returned to normal ,up again now so watching diet and hope will control it,being watched by diabetic nurse,so good look .
Hi yusuf,
Sorry to hear about the diabetes, but as Celtic has said, things may return to normal once you are off the steroids. Meanwhile, you seem to be doing really well on the recovery front with the PMR.
Good luck and a happy new year to you.
Pats.
thank you all for your replays i hope you all have a very good year great site will post again in a few weeks
Good luck Yusuf! Getting to 10mg is always one of the big mental reduction goals I think -- a point at which for many of us with any side effects, they now begin to go away.
